I know i have found a good home for My B-52.
Tom has about as much stick time with this model as I do. I ave been finding good pilots to hand the radio to while I run and hand launch the model. Tom is one of the best. I have limited space and other projects to do so Tom has taken on this models history. When it fly's again I can only hope I'm there to record it so you guys can see this 8 engine glider fly. |

Going to try it with a large powered glider style takeoff dolly with narrow 6" wheels for now, and perhaps retrofit retracts to it for 2021. |

Have done some work on a different take off dolly, but with the current state of craziness, it has been a while since I worked on it.
Did recently have a slightly evil idea for a different approach. A buddy has a large and fast 1/8 scale RC electric truck. Have started designing a rack to mount on top of the truck to securly cradle the B-52. Will be able to taxi out, run down the runway at a nice clip with positive steering and easily fly the Buff up and out of the rack when it reaches flying speed. A nice benefit to this approach is that the takeoff "dolly" clears the runway and drives itself out of the way.... Given that this model is not going to be an every day flyer and is destined to be flown at fly in and demo type events perhaps 4-5 times a year, it is likely the easiest solution for getting it into the air reliably and positively. Also cost effective, since I can borrow the truck.... I like the way Sparky's Buff flies in the current simple and lightweight configuration and hope to keep it that way. More to follow. |

The Dr. Mad edf's aren't available. I was going to up the size of the plans so the 50mm fans wouldnt look so funky wrong. Any recommendations for 40mm edf's?? If not I'll just use the 50mm I got.
I see on the plans it says 3.5° angle of attack at the wing root, it doesn't say anything about the wing tip so I'm going to assume it's set @3.5 same as the root?? |

Scale down to use 30mm QX 7000kv 3s fans. They're actually about 32mm. Very capable fans, comparable to the old GWS EDF40 with 5800kv brushless inrunners. Used them in a 4 engine HP Victor bomber which flies well at part throttle. https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...ht-video/page8
