FrSky volunteer application - New R9&R9M long range RC system test!

Hello everyone, thank you for your patience! Our long range system R9&R9M is ready and we will contact the testers who are chosen, but first round test will be held only for FCC users. The second round will come soon and I will update the information for you.

Here is an example of my low-altitude-RSSI-test with X4R and GPS and 3d-distance.

I am interested in testing the long range equipment too.

Have a large open area @ the baltic sea - perfect 4 long range FPV AND LOS.
Can compare to existing TBS XFire.

I would like to know how long the battery with the Horus holds.
You sure since you can pull 1W out of the?
If I use crossfire, I can max 500mW, otherwise it starts strongly to buzz. At 500mW light buzz. So i need to use repeater and extern Lipo.
I would already be interested in how this works without them.

Hi, I would like to give a try to your long range system. I have done a few reviews of 2.4 GHz radios and receivers. You can check the entire list of items I reviewed on my RCGroup Blog Post.
Currently Im using my Taranis with a L9R receiver. This new long range system looks like a response from FRSKY against other systems like TBS Crossfire. Looking forward to see the outcome, let me know if you need some help!

How do you manage 900 and 868Mhz with one module? Normally those frequencies require seperate modules else the sensitivity decreases when using for other frequencies. Or are there seperate modules available for EU and US frequencies? Or how can you set which one to use?

@rangarid, why do you think sensitivity would decrease ?
Is like switching from 5.6G to 5.9G in the video band, about 3-4% shift, did you seen any report stating that a certain channel is optimal in 5.8G ?
Though, obviously the antennas should have different tuning for 868/900.

Most of the common 868 and 900Mhz RF modules i know support both frequencies, but if you for example use the 900Mhz rf module it has a better sensitivity when using for that frequency and the sensitivity decreases the more you move away from that frequency.

For 5G WIFI and so on you wont move too far away (distance) anyways so range does not matter much there. But on a long range RC system it matters... Most of the 5G video transmitters have too much power anyways so range should not be a problem with good antennas. But on 10mW the sensitivity is very important.
