Optimal settings for CC25 and MEGA 16/7/8 motor

I bought a MEGA 16/7/8 and had a CC25. When I try to run the motor, everything works fine except the motor stutters/wobbles really bad at low throttle settings. Starting from 1/3 of throttle it smoothes up and runs like a champ. I really like this little motor.

Then I came here and did some reading. I didn't find too much on MEGA with CC25 but it seems that some folks had their share of trouble with CC25 and Himax motor. I some cases, playing with starting options seemed to cure the problem.

I tried to play with the soft start setting but I can barely see any difference. Even when I set to Option 1: Very soft start, it still trembles around.

What else can I try? What are the optimal setting for MEGA 16/7/8 married to CC25? Thanks!

Carlos
P.S Both motor and ESC are new.

Also, I have a question about the noises the controller makes. Sometimes when it starts up (connected battery), it makes relatively loud beeps. Sometimes when it starts up, it makes barely audiable noises (beeps). What's up with that? How does it make these beeps anyway? Does it use the motor's windings as a coil to create sound waves just like in the loud speaker?

BTW, I have tried this controller with two different motors and sound varies with both of them the same way. Sometimes the beeps are is louder, sometimes weaker. Is that indicative of something wrong?

Is my controller defective?

I'll be interested to hear the answer to your question about the starting tones volume. My phx10 does the same thing. I don't know why. One time I'll plug it in and it's loud. Unplug, plug in and it will be soft or quiet.

Hehe and I was told by one fella who sometimes flies in my park not to drink and fly . He said it can't be like this. Looks like other people experience the same thing...

Yes, the motor acts like a speaker, the controller excites the coils in the motor which in turn cause it to vibrate and make a noise. It's loudness will depend on the position of the magnets to the coils in the motor which changes when you spin the motor, try rotating the motor a little and the sound will change.

What if there's a bad connection between the controller and motor?

feathermerchant, I thought about myself. I double checked the solder joints and they appear solid. For a moment I thought that maybe there's something loose inside the motor but I tested the ESC on another motor and it does exactly the same thing, meaning the other motor stutters the same way. Hard to belive two of my motors are messed up the same way...

Besides, there are other threads about this same symptom all over the forums here....
