If all you can afford is $200, I think you should grab the bebop drone which is on sale for $200 at bhphoto

I would personally buy the OASENMA CG035, a lot of positive reviews on this drone at the moment and you get ALOT for your money. It's only 180$ comes with a live videostream, 1080p camera with gimbal and GPS actually everything the Phantom 3 Standard also has but for less. http://www.banggood.com/AOSENMA-CG035-Brushless-Double-GPS-5_8G-FPV-With-1080P-HD-Gimbal-Camera-Follow-Me-Mode-RC-Quadcopter-p-1088665.html?rmmds=search

The biggest thread on RcGroups dedicated to that quad says this in the first post: ALERT added 4/02/2017https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...-Follow-Me-Mod If I had only $200, I would be very wary of spending them on a unproven quad with bad reviews, directly from China (no support, if you don't like it sending it back would cost a fortune). I'd rather buy a known good used quad (P3S, Bebop, Solo) even if that means waiting a bit more to find the right deal I understand people with money buying that Aosenma as a toy to see what can do. It would be another to spend the only $200 you have on a questionable quad with no option to return it. Remembering my times when money was a real problem, my $200 glasses tell me I should play it safe, not send them to China |

Like I said earlier, Quality is expensive. As we say in the motorcycle and car racing worlds, "Cost, Performance, Reliability. Pick any TWO..." And as Yoda said, "Do or Do Not. There is no Try." |

And because it uses a normal wifi link (and not a proprietary system) you can add a common wifi extenders. Xiaomi Mi $10-15 = 500 meters, Netgear Trek $35 = 1km, Amped wireless $59 = 2 km. You're not going to beat the bebop in bang for buck at these close out prices. Also, video is much improved with latest firmware.

Don't wifi extenders work one way only? You can control the Bebop further away, but the video from the Bobop sooner or later drops... or does the video use a different signal?
As a side note: using wifi extenders in a busy area is a bad idea, since it causes interference to others. it's ok in the open, but not where there are other folks (and in many countries are not really "legal" to use, even if it's unclear how much enforcement there is) |

wifi extenders help by giving a better antenna, your tablet/phone receives the super stong consistent wifi signal while the extender picks up the bebop. If you are flying in an area of heavy wifi interference the bebop will have pretty poor range...you will need the extender. The bebop is a great flier, wifi is not a joke, it works pretty good although range is so limited. I am not aware of restictions on the use of wifi repeaters....not in the US anyways.
So far, only two possible camera ships for this fellow, the Solo and the Bebop, all the rest are just toys and not for serious photography. Otherwise, his choice is a Phantom 3 Standard at twice his target price. Just go buy a solo....I got several and they fly GREAT!!!! The Gimbal will run you $30 on ebay and you have a full camera bird...of course you need a camera you are back to the Phantom Standard price. Quote:

Oldgazer,
Not intending to be contradictory, but we've used the Bebop for part of our last two robotics STEM events. They featured in a quad racing event and another event that required flying autonomously across the Columbia river and back, about a mile each way. Roughly 15 participants in each event. We lost one to the river due to wind consuming the battery before it could make the full trip and two to collisions in the race. Overall they functioned well and were easy for the kids to use. We had other aircraft for more advanced activities but there weren't any disappointments with the Bebop. For the money they did just fine. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

This is true. One can decide what they must have and eliminate "frills" that add to cost. For basic flying and fairly good images but at low cost concessions must be made. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
