STRIX Goblin - High Performance FPV Wing

I've known about this for a while now but gave my word I wouldn't say anything. Mini Talon addicts like myself will probably be pretty interested in it. According to the test pilots it can be setup as a low altitude high speed screamer, or for high efficiency long range.

Introducing the STRIX Goblin! If high precision efficient flying is your goal, the Goblin is the plane of your dreams. Every aspect of this air frame was designed with aerodynamics in mind which gives it unheard of energy retention and glide ratio. Good handling and strength were also not overlooked with the excellent stall characteristics and blow molded fuselage. Add the STRIX Goblin to your hangar or car without taking up too much real estate at less than 40" of wing span.

Features

Extremely aerodynamic and efficient design is capable of endurance flights at low amp draw.
Blow molded fuselage has plenty of strength and room for equipment.
High density EPO foam and square CF spars give rigidity for precision flying
Easy to use canopy latch make changing batteries easier than ever!
Compact design with removable, forward swept wings.

For whatever it's worth, it's a Plank, not a Wing. Planks are defined by having a square or swept forward planform.
Generally "wing" refers to or at least implies a swept wing aircraft which are a dime a dozen.
For those of you who've asked me about the giant Graugans Plank, the Goblin is designed by the same person.
It's half the size, but faster, and more efficient.

I can pretty much guarantee that there is not a more efficient *fast* FPV plane on the market right now.
It is extremely slippery so its efficiency depends on keeping external drag to a minimum, but even with
To give some raw data points
Sans all FPV gear and external antennas it'll do about 135mph in level flight.
Add small FPV cam and 5.8Ghz antenna externally.. Top speed drops to about 125mph
Runcam2, VTX and 1.3ghz antenna, about 110mph.
Of course it'll go faster in a dive.
At my altitude using stock motor/prop/ESC it pulls about 25-28A at full throttle at full speed.

As for long range efficiency. Here's some numbers
From flight summary.
OSD upper left center.. 23.6mi (33km) round trip.
OSD claims 2340mAh used. Charger put back in 2368mAh.
Total flight time a little less than OSD power on total, at 31:15 for average speed of 45_mph.
Total efficiency for flight at 4S. 62.3 mAh/km

Notice 45mph average speed. That was pulling about 5A. It'll fly on less than 4.

I did the same 22+mile flight a few days later pulling a steady 10A (about 150W)
averaged 72mph, used 3200mAh, for efficiency of about 150mAh/km.

Videos coming.

DVR footage from my first FPV flight. It's fast and can climb up 60 degree pitches with ease.
Goblin Moab SD (15 min 7 sec)

HD footage, same flight:
GoblinHDMoab (13 min 42 sec)

I'll be releasing some 3D printed aerodynamic camera mounts in the near future.

Looks sexy - you mind posting up some internal shots with the battery mounted?

Didn't take long for you guys to start a thread! I believe RCG is going to do announcement on this after Toledo (public Goblin unveiling). Maybe they can merge the threads after that.

Oh that's pretty. How do blow mold fuselages hold up to abuse, both landing and crashing? Also the wings look very thin. Is there space to embed a vtx farther out with a linear dipole?

Also what kind of auw weight are you hitting?

Here it is with a 5ah 4s hard pack and go pro session. I can better shot later. She's pretty fast.

Nice - it's just that I'm attached to my fingers and I'd like to keep it that way!
