Solid State Battery.

I wonder if this will ever filter down to the R/C industry.
Sounds brilliant if it is allowed to develop.

Sounds very promising. And no more flaming boats!

The goal will be to see if they can be designed to dump a large number of amps at one time as Lithium-Poly cells too. They only compare the new tech to Lithium-Ion in the article , which do not compare to Li-Po in high current delivery. Fingers crossed.

NOTE: It also says the Li-ion tech was invented 37 years ago! I hope it won't take that long to bring these new ones to market.

The batteries we use are Lithium Ion
Their correct term is Lithium Ion Polymer. Same basic chemistry but in a polymer.
But yes the high discharge rate is what we would be looking for.

Dont they already make lithium polymer batteries for certain applications

They already do, and that's what we use. Technically, the full name is "Lithium Ion Polymer", true, but nobody really calls them that, do they? Li-PO works for me.
