The DRL or Drone Racing League consists of the best drone racing pilots in the world who compete in a series of races at iconic locations all over the world. They all fly the same drone, the DRL Racer 2, which is outfitted with color matching lights so you can tell who is in the lead. The race courses are like nothing you've ever seen before with neon lit gates, tunnels and an exciting finish into a net. Pilots wear video goggles and fly from the perspective of the drone with a front facing camera. It takes skill and luck to get through the course safely and as fast as possible.
The 2016 inaugural season was a huge success with 5 races reaching millions of viewers around world via broadcast Television as well as digital content. The 2017 season is shaping up to be even bigger and the DRL have landed a title sponsor with Allianz. They signed a multi-year deal that serves to improve drone racings ever growing fan base. The 2017 season kicks off this June and will include six races featuring 16 of the top drone racing pilots in the world flying at speeds up to 90MPH through amazing new courses. The season will air on premier broadcast channels in over 75 countries around the world. “This is an incredibly exciting day for The Drone Racing League and a huge leap forward for professional drone racing,” said DRL CEO and Founder, Nicholas Horbaczewski.
