We had a VK Cherokee Babe FLY AWAY at the base one day.

So we got the emergency rescue guy with a Pedro dual rotor Chopper to go look for it.\It was about 6 miles out in some Rice paddy !

We went back that evening to the local "village" and picked it up.

What a mess as they had recently burned off the rice fields.
Black soot all over everything !

It was still flyable.

I have one of these motors, thinking might use this one ... Turnigy D2826-10 1400kv Brushless Motor ... https://hobbyking.com/en_us/d2826-10...ess-motor.html

I also have a Turnigy D2826-8 1100kv (don't think they do this one anymore)

If you would rather go with a smaller elevator, first cut off the elevator (the size you want) then cut a slit in the horizontal stab and it should open up enough to slide the tail fin and rudder into place.

(not sure how the big one will go) see pic to modify

Ready for maiden, it balances OK with both a 1500 / 3s and a 1000 / 3s battery ... very tight but I have changed the plans and made the fuselage a little deeper .. I think this will help ... a hatch could be cut in the top, but I preferred to keep it neater without

Weight before battery 525 grams ... with 1500 / 3s battery 650 grams

I have decided to redesign the fuselage and make it wider and higher ( about 18mm) I think it will make it easier to fit the gear and battery

Just a bit "fatter" ... or as the Kiwi's say "fitter" .. no offence intended to my NZ friends

Already thinking about conversion to DTFB. Thinking about more of a boxy fuse with formers and poster board for the top curvy bits. Only challenge will be getting the piece that sits above the wing to fit right. Will probably have to shrink this a bit due to size/weight. Very cool!

You know jpot, DTFB rolls really good if the paper is removed on the inside, just be careful as it does roll much better in one direction than the other

Yes, DTFB with the paper removed on one side rolls very well. If you tape the paper side with packing tape, you can go really extreme!
