I run my flaps full down deflection for landing, works great! slows down nicely, no weird behavior, just be very careful with your turns, don't get to slow! I fly mine down to the ground with about 1/4 throttle then back it off and flare right before touchown..this plane lands sweet!

Our strip is all grass, it was rolled in spring but its still pretty rough for EDF`S. Fence with cows on one end and trees and weeds on the other!! makes for some interesting EDF takeoffs and landings, but the little Avanti handles it fine as long as i don't screw up!

That's one of the best things about this jet, I find it jumps up off the ground in shorter distance than all my other jets, the E-flite twin 64mm A-10 is pretty close but the F-16 and F-18 need quite a bit more runway to rotate?

Wemotec upgrade or downgrade
I happened to rekit a jet that had a wemotec 9 blade unit with a HET 2W27 motor - it came as a unit and is this one
https://shop.wemotec.com/Mini-Fan-ev...onically-tuned It makes 1.82kg of thrust according to the webpage Can someone please confirm my thinking this 70mm fan would be a big downgrade for the Avanti V3. I am thinking a downgrade as the FMS seems to be 1500w or 1800w where as the Wemotec is only 1250w but I could have the watts wrong - just from searching the thread I know Wemotec is a good brand as is HET but I think technology may have moved on, Maybe the Wemotec would be more efficient, would that be the selling point? Thanks |

I have no experience with the fan you are comparing to but here are some numbers a couple of the guys got in the SU-35 thread.

Generally, the lighter and more quality lipo, the better….I fly off a 400’ paved runway and I fly SMC 4500 extreme Graphene batts at 588 grams and HobbyStar 4200s at 515 grams. Others operating off grass go for smaller capacity. I fly extreme acro and high speed flying for 4.5 minutes with plenty to spare. An awesome performer. If you do the search, you’ll get everyone’s opinions and you can go from there. Keep the weight down. DB |

Some guys have reported flying with as large as 5000mAh but I think that even if it will fly with a pack that heavy it would feel heavy and be nose heavy. I don't like nose heavy planes so I have no interest in bigger packs. I'll gladly trade flight time for flight performance so 3:30 on a 3300mAh is optimal for me. |
