Radio Compartment

I have started the radio compartment.

I moved the receiver forward a bit to facilitate plugs.

The top views show just one fuselage half is cut out at this time.

plan for additional longeron type reinforcement, the front of the wing saddle is most vulnerable,
put the antenna away from carbon

Roger that, thanks.

I plan on running carbon tube from the nose to the vertical fin area in the lower body.

The kit comes with a piece of carbon tube for fuselage reinforcement.

I have enough extra carbon so if I get creative, I can add extra.

The 72 MHz antenna will be a pain to deal with on this model.

Making progress on the radio compartment.

Both fuselage halves are cut out.

Added carbon reinforcements.

Two 5 mm solid pieces on top in each halve behind brass tube and one kit supplied carbon tube down the middle on the bottom.

That should be enough, shouldn't it?

Glue seeping

I thought this was interesting how the glue seeped through the body.

I have seen that white gorilla seep through epp wings as well. Did not realize there were tiny gaps through the foam.

Yes it's interesting about this glue finding its way through voids in the foam. Also it should add strength.

I gooped in the brass tube for servo leads in RH half.

Other side of tube will be glued to LH side when I attach halves together.

I will need to finish most of the construction to determine how much permanent lead will be needed in the nose for CG.

So assembly of the fuselage halves will be one of the final steps.

I decided that coroplast won't be needed in the radio compartment like my P-80 build.

One of my flying buddies has a project waiting for me. He is starting the EPP kit business with a nice CNC setup. So I'm stocking up on building supplies.

Scale, the one I'm gonna build is a 60" TG-3, aileron version. I flew his prototype last summer and it's a sweetheart.

Hands down the best inverted performance I've had in many years.

Friends CNC foam cutter. Way cool.

A couple of his prototypes.
