Ace Simple Speed 400 Set-up Questions...

I just bought the simple speed 400 that was for sale from Tim out in washington. I dont have any racing going on anywhere around here, and just want this plane to fly in the park next to my house. What is the best set-up for sport flying with this guy? I was thinking about using a 6V ss400, with the gunther 5x4 press on prop. I hear alot of good things about this set-up, but only from fellows flying zagi type stuff. Is this the wrong set-up for this plane. I'm open to all other suggestions also, but would like to stay CHEAP, as I flyover a lake some, and would hate top loose a $$$ set-up! Thanks alot for the info and help guys.....Chris w0ace@hotmail.com

P.S....I'd rather have a minute or two extra flight time, than max speed!!

Chris,
I just came in from flying mine. 3 flights on it so far. My setup is as follows, 6 volt motor, graupner 6 x3 folder, 7 cell 600ae pack, 2 HS55 servos, focus 3 fm for radio. Flys nice, goes where you point it. I have been moving the pack back a little at a time. Getting close to where I like it. First flight was really nose heavy, now rolls are crisp. This is a real "tame" setup, but I like to start out this way, to get to know the plane. I would say duration is in the 5 to 6 minute range. It will fly easily at 1/2 throttle. I really like this little thing, talk about a easy handlaunching plane. I built this one, because of all the raves here on the E-Zone. Thanks guys!!!

Here's my setup which works fine for me: Speed 400 6V, 7x600AE and 8x500A, 4.7x4.7 CAM Speed, 2xHS-55's, mini receiver.

With this propulsion my Simple rocks quite good, you can fly 1/2 throttle for relaxing and deep dives with full bore gives you lots'a speed, especially on 8 cells!

I also tried the Rocket 400 motor ($10) and the Promaxx 4013 cobalt motor ($70). But if you're looking for a cheap setup the Speed 400 gives you the best bang for your bucks...

I am flying with
Permax 480
Ten 500AR cells for 4-6 minute rocket like flights or 8cell 1600 RS NIMH's for 10+minute flights but still plenty aerobatic.
I use 6X3 folder because I like the look and sound of it as it goes past with the prop folded. I also like doing "bounce and goes" and the folding prop allows for it. This is a great cheap set-up.

I am using the 6 volt motor with the push on zagi prop and 8 600ae cells, it is plenty fast with that combo and I get pretty good flight times even though i fly it at full throttle most of the time.
