Undocumented Features of the Optic 6

Boy, am I confused. was all set to get the Optic 6 then found the Eclipse 7 for 10 bucks more. Was going to do that then Mike Mayberry (Hitec) says there are lots of things the manual missed. Anyone got the full list? I NEED a new xmitter - and the Optic looked best. But the Eclipse... oh dear...

Where do you see that the Eclipse is only $10 more? The TX only with Specta is $40 more and the system is $60 more.

I would not say that there are "lots" of things that the manual missed. I'd be happy to answer any questions you have about it.

I personally use the Optic over the Eclipse and like it better because the programming is more versitile.

I don't mean to call you out Mike, but this is a snip from the email I recieved from the LHS - and I've called the guy to hold a E7 for me. BTW, these are $CAD (.78 USD)

"this also applies to the optic with the spectra module. I do have prices for this at 289.00 tax in..

I have the eclipse 171724 tx with spectra and charger for 299.00 tax in. the eclipse 172724 with spectra and qpcm rx should be in soon for 359.00 tax in."

I guess the extra compexity of the E7 _might_ be useful if the flight modes allows me to set up three sets of parms for each of the 7 models. I can see where this is useful on planes that both my kids and I use. And the 7th channel - well, more is better, right?

That would put the Optic TX only w/Spectra at $226.19 US and the Eclipse (same config) at $233.99. With tax. Ok... so that is what that shop is charging. That pricing structure sounds about right for the Eclipse. $219.99 (MAP) plus 7% tax = $235.38

The Optic is $179.99 (MAP) plus 7% tax = $192.58; $42.79 lower. It sounds like his price on the Optic is a little high! However, we cannot dictate what a retailer has to charge so if that is his price, then that is his price.

MAP = Minimum advertised price. This is the lowest price you will ever see advertised in a magazine.

Sounds to me like I should ask the retailer to check his prices on the Optic. Thanks for the clarification.

Aren't hobby shops allowed to sell below MAP? As long as they don't advertise that price? That is, price in the store only? I'm not talking about mail order outfits, just your/my LHS?

Sure. MAP is ADVERTIZED price.
