We need a build contest!

Was going to be a speed contest but not many people able or wanting to build speed planes. I'll still do a twin but it'll be one of the biz jets I see buzzing around Wichita

I have a 35mm design that has done 110mph on 4s. I'd have to build a new one, but let's go.
40mm max fan size.

I was thinking 28mm fans since they are available and seem to be popular.

Now that's a thought. Base the contest on a readily available power plant. No offense Knife Liddle, your one of my heros, but I could guess the top 3 finishers based on who can modify motors. Now, if you establish different classes... Would love to see an unlimited class, based on modified power plants and a class based on commercially available power plants. That way it comes down to brute power and/or building skills. What say ye!!!

No offense taken. You are absolutely right.
Stock fan and motor. But batteries will be key in that case. Need some control on the lipos or they will decide the winner. Should be about making a slick airframe and flying it well.

I would enjoy an unlimited class as well, but the emphasis should be on stock to encourage participation.

As of recent times, I'd be happy to see anything micro EDF built.

If there is a setup that is available and does not break the bank I would give it ago. But i am over a mile above sea level so my amps/watts is lower. Might need to do one more cell or something

What do you have in mind, Mike? Your own version of the Blowdart?

Personally I'll do a twin probably with 28mm fans and my motors. Won't be exotic since I'll have to build it in a hotel room.

Al right y'all. Need something to get the year started. I'm in with a Saab Draken. I've already done a pusher version, time to get some wind thru it.

Interesting but seriously Odd as well.
What is the appeal of making a Teeny Tiny Toy Airplane go at barely visible speeds?
Hard as hell to see it, not to mention control in anything beyond a brief straight dash.
My pore old Car does 157 mph and My moto does 160 mph .... true.
I can get Religion in/on either.. simple mashing of the throttle pedal or twisting my wrist
No thrill I can imagine, in watching something... I'm NOT in...go fast.
Bit too much like watching Sex..
What's the attraction... Really? Yes, it Is a serious question.
