New Product

Hoellein Innovation

I'm not much into smallish models but this one caught my interest. Looks easy to build and I think it will actually fly quite well given the specs listed. I have to place an order so I might just throw this one in with my order. For a motor I am probably going to go with a Hacker A10 on 3S although the specs for the hotter Roxxy look insanely good.

I looked at this nice model as well and a decent price for the kit HOWEVER the postage
down here was much higher than the kit making it very expensive. Still it looks
to be a fine flier and very cute. ~ A$200++ all up

Was thinking of a Fiego 18mm inrunner & 4:1 gearbox with an 8x4 prop and 3S 360mah lipo
Will see if I can design something similar.

I think it would be easy to design. Pretty sure they are using solid balsa CNC cut wings on this model. That would be challenge to replicate. You could build something up but getting airfoil right on such a thin/small wing using ribs will probably be impossible. That does not mean it wouldn't fly well.

Reply on FB from the vendor regarding postage costs and they are more favourable
Down to 28 euro from about 58 euro for mailing. Will order one in the new year.

shipping to OZ

G'day Alex

Have a number of kits from Hoellein....shipping was always reasonable and also remember the VAT(GST here) tax will come off the list price once you proceed through the payment and shipping process .
If you have any other goods that you may be interested in ....Hoellein has filled most of my boxes to the brim for very little extra cost .

A very pleasant online experience to date .

Yes, Hoellein is actually a good vendor to order from regardless of where you live. I end up ordering from them a couple times a year.

I just received this kit yesterday. It was part of a larger order that cost about US$46 to ship to USA via express. 'Economy' would have been half that.. no idea if this is simply a minimum charge or related to the overall size of the order.

This is, without question, the most beautifully presented laser cut kit I have ever seen. The only thing that I can think of that come close are the Stevens Aero kits - which are typically more expensive. Color plans, too!

The wing is built up, fully sheeting. There is NO stripwood - everything is laser cut. Nice looking wood, beautiful sharp laser cutting.

I bought the Roxxy motor and Graupner prop recommended. The nose block is clearly machined for this particular motor, so you are making more work for yourself by using something else.

I am so impressed with the kit that I will probably order a larger e-glider from Hoellein before I get this one built. Possibly the AndREaS, which comes from a different vendor, or the Introduction.

I would be interested in hearing of the experiences of others who have built the larger kits.

If you want the same experience, get the RESolution or Introduction/Inside F5J. The AndREaS is a good kit, but not to the same level of polish.

There's a number of build threads in the Thermal section for the various German F3-RES 2m kits. A couple of them either have electric variants (as the RESolution does) or are designed with e-conversion in mind.

Note that these are generally light-wind birds. There are some more generalist designs available, like the Climaxx's, but the boom in choice has been the lightweight 2m jobs.

In my limited experience building the Hoellein Introduction they do an absolutely incredible job cutting and kitting their planes. I have built 6+ Steven's Aero planes and like Bill a lot and thought he had the hands down best laser cut kits out there until I built the Intro.....it was that good.

Cheers,
Jim

Innovation kit contents

There is a LOT of laser-cut, appropriate weight balsa and plywood in the box.

First step building

Each panel of wing sheeting is made from two pieces, cleverly cut so you can not installed them backwards. Here I have glued all 6 panels together, using Super Phatic, and held together with 3M blue tape while it dries.

Pardon my extreme ignorance but a silly motor question, having not used a Roxxy before, much less the one recommended for this plane: all the photos I have seen show two screws on the shaft, opposite side of prop mounting. What are those for?

Interesting kit and Hollein produces a quality product....

Propsaver I think. You stick the prop on the front and wrap rubber bands over it between the two screws to hold it on.

Works pretty well for smaller applications.

Kurt,
Those are used for "soft" propeller attachment when the motor is used on a 3D plane. You use a O-ring to hold the prop on as seen here.

Cheers,
Jim
