Nacogdoches and Lufkin Clubs Annual Flyin

The Nacogdoches and Lufkin Clubs would like to send a reminder to all
your club members that this weekend is our annual Flyin. We will raffle
off a 20 minute ride in the CAF Stearman.

Attached is the flyer for our joint club flyin September 23rd. Please
distribute this to your club members. This is shaping up to be a really
great event this year. We prepared an area for drone racing and for
those pilots registered with FAA/AMA as drone pilots you can race or
funfly. We hope some of you can join us for the fun time! The event
will be held at the A.L. Manghum Jr. Regional Airport in Nacogdoches.

Lone Star Shootout CANCELLED

It is with regret that I must announce that the Lone Star Shootout Q-500 race is CANCELLED. After multiple requests, I have been unable to recruit the minimum number or course workers needed to run the race. I would like to express my thanks to those who did volunteer, and apologize to those racers who have modified their schedule to be able to attend and support this event.

All proceeds benefit the Cavanaugh Flight Museum, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Line of Sight (LOS) Race Rules
• All racing will be head to head.
• The winner of a race is the drone that crosses the finish line first, after completing the course properly.
• The racer who wins two out of three races back-to-back will move to the next heat.
• A racer must complete the course by going the correct direction and in the order of obstacles marked
on the course to have completed the course as a finish. If a racer misses an obstacle or goes
the wrong direction, the racer can go back and repeat the course from that point and still finish the race.
• If a racer passes through the finish gate without completing the course properly,
the racer will be scored the loser of the race.
• Two judges will be on hand to point out course infractions.
However, it’s the racers responsibility to complete the course properly.
• Other course deviations include: Pylons not rounded below the top of the pylon, not flying the proper course
direction, and a pilot stepping out of the Pilot Zone (space the pilot stands while flying the course).
If a pilot steps out of the Pilot Zone for any reason, including retrieving their drone on their side of the
race course, they can stay in the race if they start the course from the beginning.
• Each race will start with a whistle. The drone may be running, but no movement on the starting pad.
Drones moving early will forfeit that race.
• Each race has a two-minute time limit. The drone that is farther along on the course when
the two-minute time limit is reached is the winner of that race. Lowest total point score
wins the event (1pt. for 1st, 2 pts. for 2nd, etc.).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

First Person View (FPV) Race Rules
• There will be 6 heats; lowest total point score wins the event.
Up to 6 drones can race at one time. Each heat will be 6 laps on the course.
• The score for a heat is determined by your finishing order after completing the course.
• A racer must complete the course by going the correct direction and in the order
of obstacles marked on the course to have completed the course as a finish.
• If a racer passes the finish line without completing the course properly,
the racer will be scored 6 points for that race.
• Each race will start with a whistle. The drone may be running, but no movement
on the starting pad Drones moving early will forfeit that race.
• Each race has a 3-minute time limit. The drone that is farther along on the course when
the two-minute time limit is reached will be scored in that position at the time limit.
Lowest total point score wins the event (1pt. for 1st, 2 pts. for 2nd, etc.).

Dallas RC Club Fun Fly - 3/24/18 (see Flyer attached)

The Dallas RC Club just received our sanction for our Spring Fun Fly that will be held Saturday, March 24, 2018. The attached flyer has details and directions to the field.

The aircraft can be gas, nitro or electric. If it flies, it’s eligible. Dust ‘em off and charge ‘em up. Come on out and have a great day.

Remember, we have 500 feet of concrete and plenty of grass to fly off of. There is also an area provided for drones and helicopters.
