Question

Do 18650 batteries need to be balance charge when charging for the first time?

If you have 6 18650s and they are all around 30-40% charged out of the box do I need to balance charge them or charge each of them separately (instead of a 3s2p connection) for the first time?

Balance charging is sufficient.

If done on the same charger indivisually the voltage should terminate the same making them balanced.

So if I make a 3s2p pack and charge them as normal for the first time it would be ok?

If it flies, I can crash it.

Balance charging is essentially the same as charging the cells individually. There is no difference in the outcome if you charge one at a time or balance charge a pack. The only difference is how long it takes and the degree of PITA factor.
