SMALL 2017--June 1-4, 2017--Wrightsville, Arkansas

SMALL 2017 will take place June 1-4, 2017 (Thursday-Sunday) at the FARM Club Field, on the east side of Wrightsville, Arkansas.
Wrightsville is south of Little Rock. This will be the 28th SMALL.

SMALL is for RC, Control Line, and Free Flight models of all types powered by electric motors, fuel engines .25 cu in or smaller (CL fuel engines may be larger), rubber, and even hand launch. Model rockets of solid fuel and air/water types have been flown. Innovative and different from the ordinary models are welcome. The field is very large, flat, and open and can easily accommodate all of these types of flying. There is a session of indoor electric flying and I will post details when I get them.

You can find the threads on past SMALLs going back to 2001 in the "SMALL Events" thread here: https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show....php?t=1460283

A Google Maps link to the field: https://www.google.com/maps/place/65...bd73b888?hl=en

You can use the "Get Directions" button to get driving directions from your location.

GPS Users: This street address for the FARM Club Field gate works with my Garmin Nuvi GPS:

6855 Hwy 386
Little Rock, AR 72206

SMALL is being hosted by the FARM Club or Fraternal Association of Radio Control Modelers Club. You will find their website here: http://www.farmrcclub.com/

More info to come. I will put updates in this or the next 3 posts.

How nice to learn of this, as my mother just moved to Little Rock!

I believe I have the world's lightest 5 and 6s aircraft..
The 6s is 210 grams, or 7.4oz rtf.
They are airbrushed wood/ foam core and have up to 4:1 thrust to weight ratio using latest racing quad electrics.
They are 24 and 27" wing and go well over 100 mph.
Hope I can make it!

I couldn't resist building these Dehavilland Venom catapult gliders for SMALL. Full-size plans were featured in the May 2016 issue of Model Aviation.

Nice job Troy. What did you use for the finish?
I don't know how I missed that plan. I ususally keep all the free plans.
For me, CLG and HLG are the hardest to get to fly well. I like the challenge though. The good thing at SMALL is there is plenty of room for the trim flights.
I hope to make it this year with more FF and CL stuff.

I printed out the cockpits from the plans. The graphics are Coverite Microlite and a little use of a Sharpie marker. Will probably apply some light coats of clear acrylic. Hope to see ya there, Hollis!

Some more catapult jet gliders. F-86, Mig-15, Avro Arrow, and F4 Phantom. Anyone who wishes to trim out and fly them will be welcome to give it a shot at SMALL.
