Cargo B-17 conversion kit progress

I've been working on a lot of little forms and some big ones for the conversion kit EAM will offer soon.
It's a simple kit with vacuum form parts. The turtle deck and cockpit area parts you see are just test pulls in ABS. The actual parts will be in clear PETG so you'll have those clear windows.
I'll post more soon. Tomorrow I make up the cowls and other sections. This makes the conversion process real easy, you just have to carve away a little foam and glue the parts on.

Chris,

It,s Martyn from the UK - I have build my Cargo and painted it to look like a B17, even added a ball turret on the bottom, Picture attached (Just in case you have not seen it..)

But this will not stop me get/want this conversion kit and retro-fit it, it cannot be that difficult as by the looks of it it only effects the front end of the aircraft. and the motor nacels..

Once the conversion has been done, I'll just repaint....

this is a MUST HAVE, WHEN CAN I HAVE ONE PLEASE>>>

from the UK....

Regards

Martyn

Martyn,

Where did you get your B17/cargo from? I've been trying to find a plane like that.

Chris,

My cargo was purchased in the UK about 8 Months ago... it is a standard Cargo, the only mod I did was to install a ball turret .. I have made no other changes to the basic Cargo , It,s just paint and permanent Marker pen.. But as soon as the conversion kit is made available by EAM , I'm going to have one, and do a complete conversion.

Picture attached of the underside showing ball turret.

Hey Steve, See you found some calistoga. Nice looking kit. don't need the whole kit but if you would sell me just the turrets ( if you make some before I get around to) that would be nice. Are you going to make the nose turret also?
Still working on mine.

Martyn,

That certainly is a beautiful ship. Outstanding paint and details. Congratulations on doing such a fine job.

Thanks for the link Martyn!

Has anyone else noticed how increadibly BAD the EAM website is? It took me like 12 minutes to find that plane...

Oh well, they have some REALLY cool stuff there, once you find the right page! Have you seen the WB-57 in the "Skunk Works" section of the EAM website? I used to work at NASA, and I loved watching the Canberra (WB-57) fly.

Nice work on the B-17 looking cargo's guys!

Wow guys those are some great looking conversions! Mine is coming along, slow but sure. Im having a tough time shaping the top, I took too much off at first, and Im trying to shape it back...If I knew a conversion kit would be available I would have waited. Im covering it with light paper and 3M 77, I really like this method to cover foam. As soon as I can borrow a digital camera I'll post some construction pics...

Hi guys,
Seems the email notification didn't work on this thread. Sorry I missed your replies.
I've finished up all the forms. Now I have to finish my B-17 to complete the construction photo's. Shortly after that Dave at EAM will have the forms and will make the kits. So it's a view weeks off still.
Yes I did do the a nose turret and the tail gunner area as well. Ball turret too.
Thanks guys,
Steve

Here's what the parts will look like. All clear so all you have to do is mask and paint. The flash shows up all the dirt and dust, sorry about that.
