Quanum Overlord and Half-Overlord 5.8GHz Receivers

Blanket your flying area with total receiver-coverage domination! Meet your Overlord(s)!

Splash

Because Two Antennas Is So Yesterday

Clean and clear signals are all the rage these days; gone are the spotty, static-y video signal feeds that plagued FPV pilots and caused many an aircraft to needlessly augur into terra-firma. Until recently, a pair of antennas in diversity was all you had to work with, unless you cobbled together a bulky multiple-diversity receiver unit. Thanks to Hobbyking and Quanum, you can now have up to six antennas covering a 360-degree perimeter for brutally insane video coverage. The Quanum Half Overlord and Overlord receiver units combine three or six antennas to cover a broad area of the sky. These little compact units make it possible to sit center stage and fly anywhere around you without fear of flying outside your antennas beam width, respectively.

Both units have a slew of features including a spectrum analyzer, dual AV outputs, backlit OLED screen, adjustable patch antenna angles, low voltage buzzer, and include carrying cases. Both units have tripod mounts on the bottom as well. The larger 6-antenna Overlord comes with a battery compartment for a 2200mAh 3S and outputs for powering your goggles! Beefy!

OK I'll popcorn this

Its a big leap in offerings for 5.8 recievers, looking forward to reviews though, it's one of those 'if they get it right' sort of items

I have had the Quanum "Overlord" for a few days now. It works better than my Immersion RC DUO receiver and any of my conventional Fatshark modules.
However when recording with the Fatshark DVR I don't get any audio.
Anyone know how to fix this or if it can be activated somehow?

I think this will be a nice alternative for mid range 5.8ghz. Fixed wing or quads. It is bound to let you push farther out than just a cloverleaf / patch dual diversity setup, or at least let you fly in a larger part of the sky.

The only thing I am really concerned about is the Aomway patch antennas.

They are not just "ok".. They don't work at all.
Not sure if these are the same ones or if they have been "fixed". Mine was useless too.

What's inside the Aomway 15dBi 5.8GHz FPV patch antenna? (7 min 37 sec)

Yeah I have a 5.8 pepperbox and it is pretty amazing.

I don't think all patches are defective like the Aomway patch is though.. Some work ok. I think that Aomway was just designed wrong or put together wrong, or with wrong materials. not sure which.

I agree that those antennas are junk. however they look a little different than the one I have. it also has a different part number. they might be an improved design.

also too bad the half overlord doesn't have an omni.

How about taking an antenna off and cracking it open for some pics. I believe its just 4 screws and won't hurt anything.
