RCGroups October Place of the Month

Every month we like to feature a group from our Places page. There are literally thousands of Places listed, pointing out sites like flying fields, hobby shops, race tracks, and boat ponds all over the world. The RC Map is a great way to find a new place near you and meet some new friends.

This month's featured Place is the Triple "S" Model Boat Group in Brisbane Australia. These guys love all things aquatic and have been going strong since 1973. It's one of the oldest model boating clubs in existence. The triple S name reflects Sailboats, Scale boats and Steam boats, but they are big into Fast Electric boats and racing as well. Gas/Nitro engines are not permitted on the grounds so it's electric only at this site. The club hosts a large number of events throughout the year so look these guys up if you are in the area.

I would LOVE to have indoor access to an Olympic-sized pool for winter rc boating shenanigans!

My Australian friend was a member of the Tripple S model club. He signed me up as a member of the club and sent me a membership card. I think I was the only American member of the club.

+1 When my brother was building his HPR135, we asked the local YMCA if he could simply do float testing and minor drive testing in the pool and they declined. So he just used a friends fish tank.
