Build Log
Giant Lego Plane
Latest build, that I'll try to do a proper thread on. Combining two of my favorite hobbies
I found a 10x scale Lego man on e-bay and had to build something for him to sit in. I've always been a fan of classic Lego airport sets, so I picked the set which looked like it had the best chance of flying. 6673-1: Solo Trainer Build will be mostly depron and 1in insulation. Span will be 70 inches. I'll add the studs to the wing incrementally once I get it flying. -A |

For sure, if it flies, it will be in-spite of it's shape

You'll need 80+ of those Lego "dots" to simulate the LEGO look on the wing etc.
A CNC guy could have them for you pretty quick. But He'd need specs ( dia and thickness ) Happy help if desired. Best Bob Hoosier Cutout Service |

It a light night, got the vertical stab done and the other sides of the flying surfaces skinned.

The fuselage look very nice and as the original has smooth surfaces the aerodynamics are not that bad but the wings are a bit different, particularly if you made them with scale surfaces top and bottom! I presume in practise you will leave the underside smooth. Following with interest. I can't weight to see how it turns out. |

Thanks. Yeah, going to leave the bottoms of the wings smooth. And fly it without the bumps on top first. If it flies, I'll start adding the bumps, on row at a time. The wing loading should be low enough, that I my need a very efficient wing.
