"Trishula", the 2017 Winter build


Well,guys....this is what Ive been up to.
About 54" span, Power 32-46 size, forward swept wing w retracts. That retract geometry is crazy....32 degrees forward when down and 32 degrees rearward when retracted. ...otherwise, gear would be too far out and leg too long due to 10 degrees dihedral per panel. Ugh. I like a challenge lol

Trishula is Sanskrit for " Trident", which is how the wing/ fuse looks from top view....

Lol Well, it didnt look big on the computer screen...then I printed it.
The FSW Mustang actually flys very well. Ive been reading on LE slats on FSW wings...Im seeing they may help out to 1/4 span or so on each root.
Who knows. Ill build it, and we'll find out.
The fsw wing, and rear swept stab, actually give a long aerodynamic tail moment...pitch should be stable.

I notice the airflow arrows - perhaps that will help make your point about proper cooling

Its a.....guideline , Andy lol

Ive already changed from a 3" spinner to a 2.5" since printing it out. I like how true the Eflite aluminum spinner/ prop adapters run.

Cut foam cores last night.
High taper cores are not easy. They czme out OK, but Id prefer better.
I made one extra to prototype the retract instal.
Might be easier to cut an inner and outer section, and epoxy corrs together before sheeting. Perhaps a cnc cut core would be better as well.

Will post the progress as we go.

Oh boy, its got some REALLY weird retract geometry! Needs a scoop out on the front part of the wheel well due to the wheel coming back at 32 degrees. I THINK I have it worked out a practice core, but man is it ever odd.

Very interesting. You'll sure learn a lot on retract geometry with this one...looks like you already have!

Yeah no doubt. The unit is canted 32 deg from perpendicular, and 32 deg forward...pretty high angles. Its very odd, but it should work.
This whole project is pretty wierd lol

....Sometimes that is a hallmark of a Rittinger design.....just saying.....
