Build Log

Hawker Hunter 90mm EDF (Jepe Fast Foam)

Started to look at the various pieces as the came out of the FlyFly box, it seems all the underwing tanks are missing.

Other than that, the kit seems in reasonable shape. I got it from hobby88.com (which is basically flyfly),

JePe's modifications are described in detail here :

It comes as usual with some useless struts (too flimsy), with ridiculously small steel pins,

I have some retracts and struts that fit right in, these are the same I have been using in the HTG MiG-15 for three years and i the Hawk for even more.

https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...8&postcount=12

I have some other struts that would fit too, they have a 5mm steel pin.

Here's the HK link to the retract units:

https://www.hobbyking.com/en_us/serv...ount-2pcs.html

https://www.hobbyking.com/en_us/serv...1mm-mount.html

Most of the parts on the two above units are in fact interchangeable, which reduces maintenance costs.

Here's a link to the struts :

The Hawker Hunter is also quite popular as a large turbine model, here's a few nice looking examples

At some point Chris Golds in the UK scratch built this work of art for the 90mm WeMoTec fan, with Springair air retracts,

The RAF decals that come with the FlyFly kit are not bad at all.

They seem to describe one of the Hunters below, or one quite similar to it.

XG 225
WT 680
XF 382
XK 137

Very nice Herb, I love the look and flying manners of the Hunter. The Mido Evo, a great choice for this model! This should be a great build

Sorry... typo "Mido" meaning "Midi" of course..

Yes, these always take some time but the effort gives something very nice! My Midi Evo powered FF/HTG F-100 has always been a pleasure to own and fly as well. The Hunter should fly even better, with all that lovely wing area.
