Something to keep in mind if upgrading the front lower A-arms. The original K949 appears to have narrower C hub carrier than the 10428, I bought some blue alloy arms (part no. K949-004) that would not fit. It looks like somewhere along the line, the design changed. Notice the slight jog of the A arm in the K949 photo. The front edge of the A arm on the 10428 is straight, and the C hub carrier is wider. I ordered the matching hub carrier in the hope that I'll be able to use the arms...

Maybe the bling factor will take a hit, but take a file to the A-arm and be done with it. All the blue does is give it color. Buy a blue Sharpie and it's good as new.

That would certainly do the trick. I considered filing the plastic C hub down. But since I've ordered the alloy K949 C hubs, I think i'll just wait for the slow boat, and put both parts on at the same time. (assuming the old steering knuckle fits the new C hub).

I did look at photos of some other A arms (advertised on Banggood which specifically mentioned the 10428). By my highly unscientific method of resizing the photo and holding up my K949 arms up to my laptop display... the Banggood arms "appear" to be the right size for the 10428.

I started in Heli's and the whole community quickly learned that the anodized aluminum parts were bling but otherwise a waste of money. The guys on the smaller, 12428, thread have found problems with their parts too.

No doubt the aluminum arms are just for the bling factor... Especially on a backyard basher like the 10428. It's not like the way we use this model requires the utmost in precision steering and suspension. I haven't even bothered with putting oil in the shocks yet.

You might want to put money on the side for replacing all of the electronics like I had to do. I wasn't even using it outside or anything. The steering started acting funky and then it stopped completely with the servo and receiver/ESC going together.

Wltoys doesn't sell spares for the 10428. Search for VTR232004 or "vaterra twin hammer front gearbox"

Yup, i also manage to find the part listed in wltoys website. Weirdly Banggood or Gearbest doesn't carry this part.

FWIW, there is a guy on another thread doing amazing mods to his buggy. The problem I have is that the parts he has come up with are 3-D printed and hardly anybody on here has a 3-D printer.

Hi
On Aliexpress search for WLtoys k949 parts
Just check the part number before you buy

The K949 is the first model of the 10428 series

Hope it helps

WLtoys has more letters and numbers than you can shake a stick at.
