Stryker VTOL

Hello, I am going to post details in this thread on the Stryker VTOL design I built last year and it has proven as a very nice flyer. I want to give full credit to Leadfeather where I got the idea:
https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show....php?t=1565831

I can get 10 minutes on a 1300 pack. The plane weighs about 1 lbs with the battery pack.

Here is a list of parts:
Elevons : 2 5 gram servos
Motor tilt: 9 gram metal gear servo
tail rotor tilt: 5 gram metal gear servo
recevier: Spektrum 6 channel AR6100e
ESC's: 10-12 A simonK software optional
Flight Controller: NanoWii board from HobbyKing running MultiWii software
Motors: HXT2730-1300 KV brushless motors or equivalent 24 gram motors
Battrey: 1300 3S 30C+ battery
Also need a V-Tail mixer

Some flight videos:

Awesome! Looking forward to pics and any more mount or setup info, if possible.

Something special in the multiwii firmware for VTOL, or will some of the newer multi-rotor flight controllers work? Happen to have an unused Stryker fuselage and micro CC3D available ....

Nicely done kasra!! Looks like you've done a great job with the tuning! If flys great!!

Which version of the multwii code did you use?
Why did you need a V-tail mixer? Are you running the elevon servos directly from the Rx?

Thank you. It does fly well. I am still using the modified 2.2 software. I will shortly post links to the exact products I used. I did a tally one time and everything including the airframe was around $100. I am using the V-tail mixer since I am running the elevon servos directly off the RX. In forward flight, I turn off the stability completely. There are three modes.

With HobbyKing selling $5 KK2 boards, now might be a good time to switch to Open Aero code.

I'd be mad without a Taranis!
Are you planning on posting a more detailed build procedure?

Absolutely and I can program the NanoWii board and provide it also. Not sure if HobbyKing still sells those. I will try to do the detailed parts list this weekend and we go from there.

That is brilliant, I am looking forward to seeing the details of how you built this one!
It'll be my next project.

I'm really looking forward to this as well! I have a spare stryker frame that I want to use for this project.

Will have a look at the KK boards again.

Really interested in the motor tilt mechanism - hard to see on the other thread you referenced.

So, for forward flight you are turning off the MWii? So, is this essentially a SLT setup where the motor and elevons run unstabilized off the RX in forward flight, or is that just a preference for a particular flight mode?
