Resurrection nearly complete.
A 10R that our customer found on EBay that needed updating and was missing the rig. It's a great story which I will share in a bit but I could not resist posting a couple pictures.

10 rater sailing is alive and well at the San Francisco Model Yacht Club. Three dedicated 10 raters and one I 54 raced six races on Saturday the 15th of April is some light fluky wind. The Tomahawk came out on top sailed by Dave Misunus. Unfortunately I was unable to finish my new A rig in time for the race. Sailed my Merlin to five seconds. Jim Forbes sailed his Partner for the first three races with a big stick on his keel. The boat was much faster after that stick was discovered and removed. Jim is still working on tuning it, so I expect it to go faster next time out. Rob Weaver sailing his I 54 gave all of us a run for the money and finished third in most races. I'll add a picture or two soon. Ryan

My mast section came from a fella in Colorado, and sees to me after putting the rig together quite not stiff. Me thinks this is going to be an issue as the mast is going to bend to much. Any suggestions on how to stiffen the mast without a jumper strut? I will mull this over and take some pictures as soon as I can. Ryan

Did a bit of test sailing new rig in 8 to 15 today and was mostly pleased with the results. Still have more mods to do to new rig. Pictures are not the the best, but hard to shoot pictures and sail the boat at the same time. Ryan

That's just about how I did my "A" rig. The clips are on the mast in case I need side-stays, but the rig was designed to be stay-less from SailsETC.

New 10R: Update 4-26-2017
I finished the "A" rig last week. And for reference, that's a 12' ladder a few feet behind the boat.

Looks good. How tall is your rig? Mine is 85 inches from base to mast crane. My sails are CPM 505 and as you can see very high aspect ratio setup. I'll have to wait for the next race in June to try it out against another 10 rater though. Also the rig still needs a bit of tweaking, but the boat sure sailed fast with it. Ryan

New 10R: Update 4-28-2017
Ryan,
From the bottom of the gooseneck to the top of the mast crane, my "A" rig mast is 2160mm (85.03937"), plus there is 117mm (4.606299") below the deck. So, it is 89.645669" long overall. I only have one more task to do to finish the boat, and I don't really want to do it. I have to install a mast-ram, and that requires drilling into the new hull, the tape in the first photo is marking the location. Gifford Quote:
