I dont think that this has been posted before
This is Raymond Sonst's design for the 6 engined Horten. He made some concessions to stability, extension tubes on the motors and a very small sub fin underneath. I have no knowledge if either are really necessary. However bungee launching would be tricky without the sub fin. Full details are on the start of the video.

Nice model. Flys well.
You can bungee launch a Horten without the sub fin "handle" by reaching over the wing and wrapping your hand around the nose, then using the other hand to stabilize the tail. 95% of the force is held at the nose. If the root chord is longer than your arm, then it is a no go. The tiny sub fin contributes little to yaw stability. It is so small and so close to the CG. |
