2016 F5J in the Desert December 3rd & 4th - Arizona

We will be holding the 2nd annual F5J in the Desert at Schnepf Farms in Queen Creek Arizona. This event is the 2nd USA stop of the FAI F5J INTER TOUR, and results will count towards tour standings.

Cost for the 2-day event is $45 payable using the PayPal address below, and includes lunch on Saturday and Sunday. You can also pay cash the morning of the event. Payment information, as well as hotel information is listed in the post below. The pilot's meeting will take place at 09:00 AM Saturday morning.

Contest Details

We will be adhering to standard F5J rules with the following modifications: you may use an Altis V4 or similar controller capable of logging F5J height and terminating motor run time a maximum of 30-seconds after throttle on. You will be permitted to run Altis F5J firmware (does NOT allow motor restart) or run the standard Altis firmware in F5J mode (does allow motor restart). There ARE power lines on one side of the field as well as trees surrounding the park, so we are allowing emergency power up to increase airplane safety.

You must use the standard firmware settings pictured below that adhere to F5J rules and mark the F5J launch height as "---" if a motor restart is detected. Any motor restart will receive a zero flight score for that round.

All F5J launch heights must be verified on the Altis screen by the timer at the conclusion of each flight. F5J launch heights displaying "---" will receive a zero flight score, so ensure your Altis controllers are setup and tested before the event. Throttle end-points will effect this setting (See Altis manual):

FAI F5J approved altimeter list:
Altis v3
Altis v4+
Altis v4
Altis Micro
Grk Elec Altmr2
RCE #2Basic
RCE Multi 2
SM Unilog 2
Unilog 2

NOTE - The FAI has not updated this list since 2015, so please reply if you have another controller.
