ImmersionRC Tramp HV - VTX

It's the latest VTX by ImmersionRC, designed for FPV & drone racing.
Very small and light weight and supports 4S direct voltage, as well as 5v.

ImmersionRC Tramp HV 6-18V 5.8GHz 1mW to>600mW Video Transmitter
http://www.banggood.com/ImmersionRC-Tramp-HV-6-18V-5_8GHz-1mW-to600mW-Video-Transmitter-International-Version-p-1088990.html

General Info & Tips
  • According to the manual, you should power the VTX directly from VCC (Battry Voltage, and not via Regulator)
  • Pinout: Battery In, Gnd, +5V Out, Video, Audio, Telemetry (twin grounds on harness)
  • Telemetry: could be used in the future, maybe to control setting via flight controller & Transmitter
  • You can get the cleanest video by powering the FPV Cam using the built in +5v output from the TRAMP

The personal edition of the Magic Wand, make it easier to change VTX settings,
works even when the vtx turned off.

This magic TNR(Touch N Race) wand, enables a quick frequency change of the ImmersionRC Tramp VTX.

One of the coolest things about this system is that you can check your frequency, set a new channel, change the output power level,
all without applying power to your quad, so you wouldn't interfere with other FPV pilots.

If you take part in Race Events production, it will help managing the frequencies during the racing competitions.

Hi Guy's, in the manual it says do not run the tramp from a 12v Source. I'm wondering why?

Powering the Tramp
DO NOT power the tramp from a 12V regulator on a 4s powered quad, such as a Polulu.
""

They mean don't power from an external regulator.
Just power directly from your Lipo, eighter it's 4S or 3S, doesn't matter.
Have fun

I'm curious: I'm flying a rig with a HubOSD from Matek that I'd really like to keep when upgrading my vtx from 13 chinacrap to a tramp.
Anyone have any idea how to set that up?
I see there's apparently two ground wires for the camera and something about ground loops in the instructions.. does an OSD even need the ground connected to it?

My guess would be to connect it to a VCC on the HubOSD and the leftover ground cable to the ground for the camera on the HubOSD.

Connecting that second ground cable to the OSD keeps the OSD from blinking or going a way when you have voltage spikes.

If I'm incorrect please say so, I don't have the Tramp but I do have the HubOSD.

Why does the product description say the Tramp supports a 5V input, since if I connect a ~5.2V source, the VTX doesn't power up?

Is it OK to use the 12V switched power supply from my PDB if I am using a 5s lipo? What other choice do I have? I currently have it connected to a (filtered, Cleanflight OSD/PDB) 12V supply and it seems to work fine.

Thanks.

I guess it will work, but ImmersionRC has mention that it is less recommended that way.
If you have 5S, what can you do, I see no choice but to use a voltage regulator.
