4092 1730kv motor installed!!

I finally got the 4092 1730kv motor installed. I had originally put it in the 5 stator red inrunner fan housing but it never did feel right and I wasn't able to get it balanced to my liking. It actually rubbed the housing from vibrating. So I took it out and had to actually sand out the inside of the new 8 stator fan housing that is used for the 8s set up. It was about 1mm too small and after a couple mins with a circular sanding wheel (I think plumbers and pipefitters uses these) I was able to get the motor in with no issue. I used the new rotor that came with it and it was pretty close to balanced when I installed it. Very little time was needed to get it sounding wonderful. It sounds a bit different than the other housing to me. Cleaner and more whoosh than before.

Also I have been using the Red Brick 200amp esc from hobby king. I hadn't been able to change up the settings at all because of the programming instructions being wrong. And according to the website there is no programming card for the Brick... or so I thought!! The Hobby King ESC progamming card was only a couple bucks and I figured that I would give it a try since a couple people on youtube have said that the throttle stick programming was the same as the Hobby King escs... so I got it and what do you know.... it works!!!! So I adjusted the esc timing to low and it changed the readings I was getting by about 10 amps. So now the set up has really come to life! I am getting 145amps peak and it settles down to about 137amps after about 10 seconds and stays there. Voltage starts out at 3.84 per cell and drops to about 3.74 per cell after 15-20 seconds. And the thrust is much better than before! If I hold the plane by the nose pointing up and throttle up the plane wants to rip out of my hand straight up!!! With the 4082 1600kv it was good but didn't have this much push. It feels significantly stronger now and just sounds so much better. Later today I will get some actual video of me running it up with the amp ring and cell checker.. Will use my hat cam so that I can have free hands.... Here are a couple pix in the mean time...

4082 installed in the plane

4092 installed in the plane (I eventually took the housing out)

it was rubbing and I was unable to balance it to buttery smooth

This is the housing that I have used for the fans thus far. Notice that it has 5 stators

This is the housing that I changed to with this fan. I wasn't sure how it would work and was a little worries about the thicker trailing edges on the stators. But it works pretty good!! I have yet to fly it but the thrust is up quite a bit from the other fan and motor.

Size comparison between the 2 motors

4082 wires are not at thick...

4092 are significantly thicker!

Sorry for the long post.... but this has been a journey thus far and I am glad to have found a set up that meets my expectations on 6s!! I will get video soon and share as well...
