Multiplex Easystar part 10


so in little over a year we had over 4500 postings, and probably close to 50'000 viewings, if we can take thread 9 as a measure..
so here we go again: part 10 - the epic continues...

Easystar threads:
part 9, Aug 1st - Sept 9th 2004
part 8, June 21st - Aug 1st 2004
part 7, June 3rd - June 21st 2004 (18 days - boys we were BUSY those days!)
part 6, May 18th - June 3rd 2004 (16 days!)
part 5, May 3rd - May 18th (15 days!!!) 2004
part 4 , April 8th - May 3rd, 2004
part 3 , March 12th - April 8th 2004
part 2 , Feb 17th 2004 - march 12th, 2004
part 1 , Aug 21st 2003 - Feb 17th, 2004

I see we have slowed down a bit, while we did 500 postings in 2-3 weeks this spring, we are back to moderate typing now; we only need a new thread every 5 weeks
maybe people spend more time flying than typing...

Should we celebrate this 10th birthday of our EasyStar with something special ?

Splash99, what about having the Easy build as a water plane ? Did you decide to not do it ? I really think it would be so nice to see this but it would not be easy, I guess.

already bought blue elapor floats, good for up to 750 g AUW.
Still thinking about how to put them on, non-permanent (i.e. so that I can decide when they come of )

When do you think it could be ? Among the 10th thread sounds reasonnable for it or you will just land the EasyStar on a frozen lake soon

That's another one. The EasyStar taking of from hard snow. I would love to ski and pilot a EasyStar, all the way down the slope....

I wish I would live near a ski resort....

Get ZoomZoom's setup and you probably won't be on the water long enough to need floats! Sure should ROW easily enough!

zz setup will RO anything...
Patrick: I did ROG with the ES in near stock (400 7,2V, 8xKAN1050, 5x4) last winter of some heavy, already warm powder snow.
No Problem.
The climbout wasn't as impressive as zz's, though...

MAKE a little stub wing out of balsa ("BALSA"--horrors) about 250mm long. Glue it to the bottom of the fuse under the CG. Glue the floats under the tips of the stub wing so that the CG remains in the correct position. No need for any struts. The step on the floats should be just Fwd (2mm) of the CG for correct attitude for take off.

Worked for me on an EPS ducted fan plane.

See also: Thread 7 , post 491 and others, we have discussed this indepth many times, bc is so confusing for beginners. Yuo could run a search and will find a lot of information alone in the ES threads.
Or Post 307 in the Magister thread 2 about a related topic.

Jeez, guys it's just one of those sweet running 6V Speed 400's with a 6 cell 840 mAh battery It just barely gets off the ground.

The setup does get the Easy Star a little more respect from other flyers though Scared the crap out of someone flying one of those ParkZone J-3 Cubs with it I thought he was going to soil himself.

What is the comment, if printable? I bet it's something about Patrick "doesn't fly well inverted" Plawner... The man has proven that he can fly anything, except for an inverted EasyStar... My current record is over 30 seconds inverted at full speed (After that I nose planted it because I was flying far too low - 3-4 meters)
And my flying may look OK, but I never look good, except to my wife and kids - "love is blind"...

SPLASH.

If you want to take the floats off just glue some hard balsa inserts in the Fuse and screw the stub wing on with SS screws.

I did that too after an inadvertant landing on"Terra Firma" tore the floats and stub wing off the Fuse. I'll see if I can find a pic.

Air intake


Just finished my second easystar today and I noticed how hot it gets inside the cockpit. I'm afraid I will damage some of the electronics with the amount of heat it builds up during long flights so I want to cut a hole in the front to air it out. Looking for some tips on how to do this right. What are the disadvantages and do you need an exhaust? I like oldpilots intake mod but I dont know where to put the exhaust.
