Composite Molding Examples (Full-Scale)

I found a link to the ongoing manufacturing of a full size Glasflugel 304. It is very interesting seeing the composide mold making is similar to RC scale but just in a much larger scope.

wonder if they have occupational health and safety laws in CZ.. the guys working on the molds aren't wearing coveralls or fume masks

Great link though!

Yes, they do:

It looks to me like they are all wearing coveralls and gloves... but not "lab coats." It's pretty hard to work 6-8 hours in a fume mask, wouldn't you say? They do have big "dust collector" type hoses coming from the ceiling... they may be running while they work. Who knows.

Just as a side note, I've seen some composite shops and I can tell you (as you probably already know) that when you do a lot of composite work, you pay a lot more attention to general hygene. That is, you tend to work a lot more carefully and make very little mess. Many guys actually work without gloves because they know exactly where the epoxy is and they never touch it with their hands.

As for me, I'll wear the gloves.

Bill,

I noticed that also, especially with the Non-RC company. They kept saying their production techniques are propietary. As you can see, there are not much difference other than doing everything big.
