FMS 2000 mm Beaver

FMs has announced the release of the 2000 mm Beaver.
First shipment is due late October to Mid November.

Here are the Specs and First Flight photos. You will notice in the last few photos a multi color streamer. This is showing the tow hook and release.

Floats will be an option and I have asked about Skis for our Northern customers. FMS is looking into.

The shape looks ok. Looks kind of chubby though, with a long nose and big wheels.

Disgusting representation of a classic aircraft!! I wouldn't take one for a $1!!
The designer obviously never spent more than 2 minutes with a 3 view, so much wrong!Doug B

What you are seeing is the first CNC prototype. Refinements are in progress

It appears the nose was extended to allow a battery hatch. On a real scale Beaver, the hatch would be in between the wing mounts typically or thru the bottom to get batteries far enough forward. The over sized wheel look rediculous too! Either go smaller or install Tundra style, small hubbed wheels. Typical cheap engineering and shortcuts. The classic Beaver deserves better! fwiw Doug B

What do you mean with refinements?

I see a lot of scale failures, like other people did here, it's a pity.
ST Model DHC-2 beaver should be a reference for other brands.

Most hugly stuffs in this model:
- nose lenght,
- motor cowl and motor cover (no plastic cylinders?),
- color scheme, not even like the real one,
- window frames, should be at least with black plastic sheet or transparent,
- floats are not scale enough, no details.

+ stuffs:
- FMS product,
- size, 200 mm wingspan,
- price?,
- flight performances?,

If you have contatcs with them, try to keep their attention on our remarques.
Like that it will remain only a foamy plane made in Shenzen, like a thousand other examples.
But not a winner at all.

Thank you for posting these pics!

Did you have some exchange of opinions meanwhile?, I don't see any refinements or improvement on the model....

This black livery, is a killer for foam, in summertime.

Floats struts are not scale at all.....

The factory has refined the paint and foam and has been tested to not be an issue in the summer sun.

As for scale like, this is my two cents.

Back in the day we had to build from a box of sticks and it it came out looking like a plane be it Beaver, P-51, F4u etc... you took it out and flew it and were very proud of your accomplishment. So today while it is not perfect as you want it, it is designed to make your flying time enjoyable.
