Actually I would be more interested in the 2M airplane. I would much appreciate pictures and details on the 2M ship. I have an AXI FAI motor in need of a home. However I do feel the need to mention a couple things I see in the pictures of the smaller airplane. Please take this as constructive and not ment to take anything away from these airplanes. The first item is the use of a ball link on a stock Futaba arm coupled with a fairly large aileron. The second is mounting of a receiver right up against a digital servo. IMO these have the capability to lead to possible issues.

So with Miscellaneous items included,(spinner, Connectors, Servo Extensions, etc...) the cost of the Airframe and Electronics right around $1000 bucks without the Receiver and Transmitter. Not bad!

Add in a $300 Transmitter and a $50 receiver and you are in the air!

Looks like a great way for someone to test the waters for pattern. It would be very competitive in Sportsman and would hold its own in Intermediate.

A $1000 commitment is a pretty serious commitment to just "try" something. Maybe I'm just to Scottish

On the other hand I know many are willing to throw money at something no matter the cost.

I know if I brought home a $1000 airplane it would be the cheapest part of the divorce

Ken

PS. I'm not in any way trying to belittle the plane nor any potential owners.

Well truth be known a grand for a capable pattern airplane is very reasonable considering where the upper limit is. If you were to get a BJ craft 2M airplane with motor, servos, sp control, batteries, contra system and the little tidbits needed you could easily hit 10-12 grand.

Now the disclaimer. That caliber of airplane is not needed until you get into the advanced class and even then debate able.

The cost of the airplane is pretty much in line with other offerings. Based on what was listed, the airframe cost is in the $ 400.00 range. That is comparable and a little less expensive than the current SebArt offerings.

Where you will see a lot of variation in the cost of outfitting a plane and you could save money money in that regard, but either way, the cost of the airplane ready to fly will still be in the $800 - $1000 even if you pick middle of the road components.

My latest purchase was a Fantasista 70 which I got on sale for $ 425 (including shipping). I ended up re-using equipment that I already had. The only thing I had to buy was 2 HS-5245 mini-servos (I already had the other 2) for about $80 and a new 7 ch Spektrum receiver for about $70. Even so, the out of pocket expense was in the $575 range. If I had had to purchase everything, I would have spent about $ 900.

I realize that anyway you cut it, dropping $800-$1000 on a model airplane can be considered expensive but if this plane is anything like my Angel 50 which has over 500 flights on it, it can also be thought about as an investment. I think that the bigger issue with these planes is resisting the urge to buy them before you are truly ready for them (ie. good take offs and landings are the norm and losing orientation from time to time does not result in a panic).

Finally, these planes fly very nicely; much better than your traditional sport plane.

When I first saw the pictures of the plane, i was expecting an update to the 2m Osiris.
Surprised the first offering is not a 2m plane...I am assuming it was just to provide a lower cost entry point?
It is hard to argue with a $399 plane designed by Andrew Jesky no matter what.
