Hawker Hunter?

Does anyone know of a mid size Hawker Hunter that is still available. My searches have come up with a bunch that are no longer in production or are out of stock.

I know of 2 options.

First is the Fly Fly 90mm Hunter. It comes in 3 diferent schemes. I would recommend using a JetFan, Wemotech EVO, Dr Mad Thrust, RC Lander, FMS or CS90 12blade or any other modern fan over the stock one. Same goes for modern electric retracts over the Fly Fly electric retracts. It should go without saying that you will need to strengthen this airframe for a modern power system but there is a good thread here on RC Groups that details all the mods. You can get it direct from them at http://www.hobby88.com/shop/index.ph...sort=5a&page=2

Your other option is the RC Lander 70mm. On this one it's best to skip the metal RC Lander fan and build it with a lighter setup if you can. I prefer the combos from EDF Hobbies but I'd also give the FMS 4s 70mm 12 blade setup a try. You can get it here in the states from Park RC Models or email Tim Wan, the owner of RC Lander, directly ([email protected]) and he will sell direct as well. Direct you have some color choices as well too.

The Fly Fly Hunter is still obtainable and flies very well on mid level cost fan/motor combos. There is a thread on this model if you search (pics of mine in there). It is still flying and is a no stress model. Would certainly recommend as an everyday EDF requiring very little routine maintenance.

I also had the Lander version . Was not good on 4S so sold it and I believe he put 6S in it and tore the wings off !!

This is our build of the Flyfly Hunter in Swiss markings. It is a lovely flier on 6S. The only thing is it requires some building skills to complete and it is very common to have warped wings. The warps don't affect how well it flies. Just be prepared to trim them out with aileron trim.

Here is a link to Hobby88 kit version with motor (motor useless but the plain kit is no longer in stock)

There are kit versions in other colours

I have a 6S Lander Hunter. I maidened it at the Jet Jam in Indiana. Second flight I got too slow and crashed it. All 3 gear were bent back and the left half of the wing broke. No crushed foam luckily. Now it's back together like it never happened. Pilot error; not plane's fault.
First, if you're going to build a Lander Hunter keep it light. I used a 2200kv motor (HET 2W30), an EFlite Delta-V fan and 60 amp ESC. Max watts were 1100 settling to 1000 (50-45amps). I used a 2700mah 6S pack (410g). I even had flaps- not that I think they're necessary- if you keep it light (no heavy metal fans!).
It's a nice flying plane when set up correctly. It's also bigger than a lot of 70mm planes.

Now, as to what the OP should get: Without a doubt, get the Fly Fly Hunter. It's big airplane. You could go to JEPE and get their fast foam version:

Or- and this is how I would do it: But the kit at Hobby88 and buy the StormHV unit from Jepe:

I know it's not in stock, but e-mail them.
If not the StormHV, contact Gary at EffluxRC and have him set up a combination with the same performance.
FWIW, I am a big proponent of High(er) voltage, lower amp power systems

Terry
