The new T-Rex 470LM is the latest release from one of the most popular companies in the RC helicopter market. Some of the new features on the 470LM are the newly designed belt drive system (a release of a torque tube version is on the way), new rotor head design that loses the DFC system. The new landing gear gives the helicopter a 5 degree forward tilt and the servos are the new HV DS450M/HV DS455M High voltage versions. The ESC is the new RCE-BL50X to handle the 6 cell power system and the main shaft has an added 3rd bearing in the main block. All of which makes the 470LM Dominator Super combo an excellent choice for taking the guesswork out of choosing the electronics for your 3D power house.

I wonder if the new Main Rotor head design will find it's way into the larger heli's, like the 550L.

Looks like a great update, with a decent powertrain and beefier shafts to match the competition. No mention of increased tailshaft diameter, tho. Ff they stayed with 3mm they really dropped the ball.

I'm going to end up waiting this one out now. The 500L kits are going for just under $375 with discounts so I grabbed one of those instead. I'll probably regret it later.

They stole BEAM's tail drive and added a tensioning spring.

I wanted a Synergy E5, but did not want a shaft driven tail.
I ended up rebuilding a Synergy E6. It has the same belt configuration.

After testing and selling many crappy systems They got rid of the DFC head and the torque tube. Good to see they learned their lessons.

The direct drive tail has been around a long time, I don't think Beam were the first to come up with it. Good to see it coming back, however.

BEAM? I thought they stole it from Blade?!?!?!

I guess I'm in the minority, I love the simplicity of a DFC head, especially Tarot's split lock.

We don't need to pollute this thread, because I am liking this new helicopter, maybe as much as a delux Gaui X3

The tail control is looking good, I wonder if it can go over center and lock up like the older ones?

I hated the 450 PRO, IMO the SE was a better machine once you added a few mods

The problem with all new align helicopters is that they are heavy.
The 500l is 1 heavy helicopter.

You are not minority, I really dont understand why some complain about dfc heads, I have had so many flights with them and never had issues and really cant see why anyone would, they work perfectly fine.

Longer shaft will lock up so you need to add a washer or washers to prevent lock up. You could limit the travel by the FBL controler but wind gust or hard 3D may over ride a limit.

470Lp is a better kit than any of my other Align or Clone kits.
Screws are better
Frame is sanded
Blades
CG and Weight off and were correct
Bearings
Head bearing configuration was changed to 450L configuration + remove spacer installed brass metric washers.
Ball extension for A P & E servo arm is a big improvement
3 bearing design is super
Main Shaft is now 6mm
LiPo
Opening is 40.5x53.5x300mm
Lipo tray is improved
Landing skid Raked is so good I added Aligns 470L skid to all my 450s
ESC

Which shall it be, Passworthy?
Brown Elf left mine on the front porch today. :-)

Packaging looks nice. Hope the bird is. Probably won't get it assembled 'til a while after I get the new lens in the other eye (cataracts).
