Flew several flights today and I must say I am impressed with how she handles. I would suggest not go with the 2200 mah 3 cell pack and use the pack the Calypso uses which is around the 1300 mah size. I have the battery pushed back all the way to the back and she is still a bit nose heavy with a 2200 mah 3 cell.
Power? She has plenty of power! If she had 3D control surfaces I could hover it. She does have a never exceed speed! But the only was you will get to this speed and taking her up high and point it straight down with zero throttle. The wings will start the flutter, but she is moving REALLY fast..... I just like testing planes to its limit.... This glider is very clean meaning when you come into land you think you are slow enough but the plane just ZOOMS right past you. The rolls are actually some what axial and was able to perform nice precision like point rolls. I think if I had a lighter battery I could have easily caught some thermals and made it glide a bit longer. I personally had more fun taking it up high and cutting the throttle and doing downlines. It makes a cool whistle sound. As for launching do not go full throttle as it can easily slip out of your throwing hand. There is not a whole lot of room to grip it. She does not need much power to launch it. If you guys have any other questions please let me know. As for mods I would personally take some thin CA and put a light line over the plastic pieces on the movable stab on the leading edge. You will see what I mean when you purchase one. It is fine stock, but just extra security. I plan on adding flaps to mine soon; |

I was hoping to run 4s when I first saw the video, but notice they changed it to 3S only. After flying it a few time she DOES NOT need 4S. If it had 3D controls I could hover it like a plane with a DA-120 on it. She does have a VNE speed btw on the dives. |

I see the flutter lol... hard to hear with the cool air noise she makes. Everything is stock. I am wondering when I add flaps will it do the same? Honestly she moves pretty good before the flutter even starts.

Here is the weight difference between the Calypso and the Rapide.

Wow, this model is quite the spiffy little warmliner. I am surprised it is not getting more attention here in the forums? She really scoots nicely on a 3S 2200mAh pack and the airframe makes a very cool whistling sound with power off, diving in from 300 feet or so! With four channel control (and the option to easily add flaps, she is pretty aerobatic as well!

Slow exposure
I think it's not getting the attention because warbirds, ducted fan jets, and hovering 3D models are the ultimate goal for beginners. Sailplanes, motorgliders, and warm/hotliners are not seen at the club sites so exposure is less. I have to admit that the Flex Cessna 170 has been the only model I have been flying for the last 3 weeks but my Rapide will be next.
