Pixhawk 2 (un)official discussion thread

This is really not an "Official" Pixhawk 2 thread, but might be just as official as one can get on RCG.

This thread really came about because the topic came up in another thread and was throwing that thread a bit off topic. SO......

Lets discuss the Pixhawk 2

www.pixhawk2.com

Features

A total of 29 mems sensors in it.

3 x 3 axis Accelerometers
3 x 3 axis Gyroscopes
3 x 3 axis Magnetometers
2 x Barometers

It comes 100% RTK GPS ready.
Multiple GPS capability is standard.

Ok With the beta release coming in the next few weeks It looks like the Pixhawk 2 (P2) has the potential to be a real nice flight controller. And with multi GPS and RTK capability, I can't help think it could be a good rival to DJI's A3 system.....

Those features are not exclusive to the PixHawk2. Regular PixHawk also does that with the appropriate ArduPilot version.

This will tower over the original pixhawk. Haven't heard anything about the pixhawk being rtk capable, but the triple redundency and isolated Imu's (I believe 1 or two are isolated) will be the first huge improvement over the standard pixhawk. No more guessing which set of sensors is right. The Baro will be heated to eliminate any temp issues. I also believe it will support 3 gps modules (can't remember if this was ever confirmed or not) but if it does that kicks the dual gps system out almost entirely. Especially with 3 rtk gps modules XD

The board is in production right now correct?
What about more details on the design, the specs...?

Just one example of RTK on PixHawk

http://ardupilot.org/copter/docs/com...-receiver.html

the wiki is our friend

As more than 2 GPS units, it's a matter of adding code to support them, and more important the switching between them. And again PH1 will also have that....

First run

Also it retained Intel Edison support, very interesting indeed.

It's not that Pixhawk 1 can do multiple GPS and RTK, but Pixhawk 2 has more sensors, newer? sensors. And the fact it can be integrated into many different forms using the different carrier boards, or you can design your own custom carrier for only the in/outputs you need.

Right now A3 guys are complaining that DJI took away the in/output port mapping so they can't use non DJI stuff with the A3. The mapping guys are begging to get at least camera triggering working .

It seems there could be a decent market for P2 if it performs well....
