Vinco F5J


Jorge and the guys at Tecnoepoxy in Spain's been working hard on their new F5J glider ready.
Also using DLG construction tech with a Rohacell solid-core to achieve extremely low weights. Looking forward to receiving ours!! Hope to get 5J started in China later this year.

Just saw their maiden video on Facebook this morning, can't believe there isn't a thread on it on RCG yet!

When will it be available for purchase in the US by us mere mortals ?
Who is the distributor in the US ?
Can you add ballast to it ?
And, of course, the inevitable: How much will it cost. ?

SoaringUSA will be the US distributor for the Vinco. We expect to see them some time in September.

This is a great looking model, they come in around 1150g AUW. Not too bad for a 4m!!

We have not set a price yet, but it will be very competitive in comparison to similar models.

We will keep you all posted!!

It's uses GT's SynerJ airfoils??? If that's the case, sign me up! I want one! Put me on the waiting list! ;-)

Jerry you are right we have used SynerJ airfoils, and believe me that the flying characteristics are impresive!

Vector, I assume this is an ultra light wing layup for F5J only, and will not stand a winch or tow launch ?

Do you have any plans for an F3J version ?

Hello Greg.

You are right, this wing lay up is only for F5J as the Joiners of the wing tip panels.

For the moment we are not planing to move to F3J, here in Spain is totally unpopular so I haven't got any experience in this kind of competition.

So, For the moment the Vinco will be only available for F5J competition.

We are working now in Pre production models trying to reduce weight and increase stiffness of each single part of the plane.

Yikes. I question your usage of MKS DS6100 servos for the flaps, and X08 DLG servos for the ailerons on a 4m. F5J ship. Like a lot of people, I occasionally land with flaps down and I've blown out quite a few (3-4, maybe?) DS6100 servos. The good thing about them is the gear sets are readily available as spare parts ($$$). Is there room in there for MKS DS6125 for the flaps, and DS6100 for the ailerons ?

Please, no lectures about 'Well, learn to retract the flaps when you touch down'. I DO that. Most of the time.

Hey Greg, there is no reason why you can not add a larger servo, but the whole point to a model like this, is keeping it as light as possible. You are gaining nearly 19g per servo switching to 6125 or 6625. I would recommend a 6100, or 6110 on a bearing support frame, and MKS 75k for the tips. This will be the best setup you can get.

When the Vincos come in, I will build one out with the following-

Neu 1102/p29

TP 850 3s

GM 14x7

MKS 6110 w/ bearing frames "maybe the new 6130 instead" on flaps

MKS 75k tips

MKS 6100 fuse

If I were going to buy/build one, I would gladly add 38g switching from 6100s to 6125s (more than 2x the torque)for flaps, and an additional 4g switching from DS75Ks to 6100s (6100 has almost 2x the torque) for ailerons. That's just the raw servo weight, doesn't include any frames or bearings.

So the AUW goes from 1150g (40.6 oz) to 1192g (42 oz). Worth it, imo.

I guess my question should have been - is there room in the stock servo cutouts to do that ?
