Build Log

My first Stryker-style plane

**Jan/2017: I've posted the pdf plane, with KFm2 airfoil, will post the building instruction video soon...
===========
Here my first Stryker style plane, it flies well but I need to test it more to have final best plan, will post the plan soon.
===========
Here some specs:
The wing span is 84 cm
Motor A2217 2700KV (6x4 APC prop)
Esc 60A
Battery 3s 2200mah
Total weight about 550g
===========
Updated 3/1/2017
I had recorded some videos of its flying (with different motor set up):

Striker at Bac Lieu city (VN) (1 min 23 sec)

Ngày 01 tháng 01 năm 2017 (0 min 33 sec)

And my friend made a smaller version (69cm wingspan), but I don't recommend this wing span for beginners (it's too hard for handling)
Test Chịch 69cm. 2212 2k4 (3 min 40 sec)

Nice! Very fast. You have to build them now that Horizon discontinued them. I have an original that I might just trace onto foam then shape a basic airfoil. How did you get your measurements?

I just downloaded the images from the internet and built my own version...
=========
So in the previous clip (the first clip I post in this topic) is the new version, not use the kfm2 anymore,
as you can see this version I used 64mm ducted fan, it flies well, not fear of strong wind

But it's hard to make (the head is small, you have to be very careful), so I'm making another version, the head can be larger for easy building

I just uploaded the KFm2 plan version, for the battery esc holder, you can make your own, it's easy. (I decided to put hatch at the bottom, as you can see in my first post images )

Oh and I forgot to say, the center gravity point is arround here, more or less..
Also you can make the body/canopy like this (simple eh..)
Striker plane - body/canopy making (0 min 28 sec)

Those are very nice builds. Some look solid and some look like they have a formed airfoil from foamboard, very interesting to see the different techniques for the same plane. I hope to get to one of these by the end of the build season. I tried 2 of the type, not to plans just eyeballing, and both I considered failures. Both flew but not well at all and retired them when I got tired of fixing them. I think too little wing area was the culprit, I think I needed to fatten up the cord a little. This time I will start again with your dimensions and see how goes. I just need to finish up 2 Prime Jet 8's one for me and one for a buddy. Then the next project is loosly based on the Stryker. Same basic twin tail delta with an edf but a full fuse.
