Step 9 says cutoff pins are inserted through the chain plates. With even the eyehooks provided in the kit are the pins supposed to be? I can't find any. Should I just get regular ones at Walmart?

Nothing special. You can use common pins or if you need larger get round headed escutcheon pins from hardware. Cut to length needed.
