Question

Power supply for Turnigy Accucel-6 80W charger

Would this power supply be suitable for the Turnigy Accucel-6 80W charger?

Thanks!
No. That is only 12V 2A (24W). The Accucell 6 80W would need a 12V 7A (84W) power supply.

However if your batteries require less than 24W for charging you could use that power supply on a limited basis.

My advice would be to get one properly sized in the first place and save you from having to replace it later.

BTW when asking about a charger it always helps if you mention what batteries you intend to charge with it. Specify both the cell count and the mAh so that folks may know how much charging power (watts) is needed by the battery.

May I also suggest you read this: http://www.tjinguytech.com/charging-how-tos

Can you solder ? Get a Dell DA-1, DA-2 or an Xbox 360 power brick. Whichever is cheapest. Cut the plug off and do a search on wiring. Bit of soldering and a couple of banana plugs, and you are done. They all will power your charger fine. The Dell DA-2 is the highest wattage, followed by an original Xbox 360 fat power supply.

This power supply would work, I use a similar one with a bit more power though:

I recommend either this one or one of the many 12V 5A laptop power supplies offered on ebay.

Thanks Julez, just what I was after! I will have a look for one of those.

I understand this is an old thread but I'm considering getting the turnigy accucel LiHV 80W charger myself.. My existing power supply I use with my older non LiHV turnigy accucel charger is 15v/6A so I believe has enough power but this 80w charger does not have the usual female barrel connector per input socket we're used to seeing (my 15v/6A supply of course has a traditional male barrel connector on it.. if I were to get this female barrel connector to male xt60 connector will I be able to used my existing power supply with this charger http://www.ebay.com/itm/302075853950
? Thank you

OK, I don't know what connector the charger is using for input power. Since there are a couple of models around I don't even know what to search for. If the 80W Accucell LiHV charger uses an XT60 for input then the answer to your question is yes.

In the future, please provide more complete information.

I thought it was already noted that this thread is regarding this charger: https://hobbyking.com/en_us/turnigy-...v-capable.html

My 15v/6A power supply isn't exactly this but very similar with a barrel connector (which is what I use with my older (non LiHV turnigy charger): http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/2919669...ul_noapp=trueI

So with this info will that adapter I first listed work?

Thanks again

The adapter you referenced is a barrel to male XT60. I cannot tell for sure from the pictures of the charger but it does look like the charger has a female XT60 port. If this is true then it appears that adapter will work.

thanks- yes - I can confirm the charger has a female XT60 port- I just need to make sure the size of the female barrel connector will fit the male barrel connector on my power source and also that the center pin is positive and not negative (to match the positive center pin of my power source)

I took another look at the adapter you referenced and notice an anomaly.
The description states Male XT60 but the picture is a Female XT60. Gender is specified by the pins and sockets, not the shell.

As to the barrel connector how would anyone know? There are no specifications stated anywhere that I could see.

yeah I need the adapter to have a male XT60 as the turnigy charger's power in socket is a female XT60 (to plug the male xt60 adapter connector into).. waiting to hear back from the ebay seller regarding the polarity and size of the barrel connector of the adapter..

there seems to be confusion across the net- some people are calling xt60 connectors with the 2 holes male while others (myself included) are calling female .. basically I found this adapter for my power supply's barrel connector to plug into the turnigy accucel's XT60 socket (whatever you want to call it 'sex' wise http://www.ebay.com/itm/12v-DC-Barre...oAAOSwP~tW2Ivh yet this seller is agreeing with me- the adapter has 2 prongs on the XT60 connector end thus they refer to it as male and thus the turnigy's socket must therefore be female (since the turnigy's XT60 socket has 2 holes)- the info in the description also confirm's the center pin in positive which matches my power supply's male barrel connector (it is confusing more though as the seller describes the barrel connector as female even though it has a pin/shaft- based on the XT60 being male with a pin or shaft it gets confusing- but my power supply's barrel connector has no pin so whatever you want to call sex wise again so they should connect together - have ordered the above adapter from ebay
