Official Yuneec Typhoon H ***Owners*** Thread non moderated

This is the Non moderated Yuneec Typhoon thread!
The Moderated thread to keep the DJI guys out is here. .... It's sad that members feel they have to do this Below I explain why.
https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show....php?t=2655710

There seems to be a continued effort by people affiliated with DJI (dealers) to cast the Typhoon H in a bad light. Many new account with broken English has been infiltrating youtube review accounts and some posts here on RCG like the VS threads.

I was assured that this WAS not DJI America or DJI main headquarters in Hong Kong. I do not believe a large professional company like DJI would stoop so low especially when they don't have to. DJI has a the lions share of consumer drones sold and doesn't need to go gutter swimming to get more business. However whoever is behind this is damaging DJI's reputation and polarizing even their own customers.

If you are new to RCGroups this kind of effort by DJI dealers and rabid fans is nothing new so please pay them no attention.
Apparently the Typhoon H is a huge hit and DJI fans know this.

Careful reading reviews on Amazon or any retailer that allows reviews to be done by just anyone. Paid shills or sockpuppets are rampant and posting negative reviews to stop competing products.

Here is a great Article

If you never heard the term shill? Well a Shill is somebody that it either paid by the company or an affiliate of a company. Sometimes that payment is in free product as you can see here.

First off I think it would be cool if the controller was a separate product that could use DSM for use in other R/C items

Looks like this isn't shipping until June!

Chances are you will be able to get one the same time the pre order guys will.

Questions on Collision Avoidance

I'm seeing lots of happy videos without a lot of details that I want before buying an H or a Phantom 4. They are around the same price but what about the matchup before I shell out 1500 bucks? Like collision avoidance specs for example. Can anyone help answer these questions? So how far out do the sonic sensor work in front to spot a thing to avoid? I see Phantom sees with a camera out 15 meters. A sonic sensor can't work that far out can it? And when it avoids does it stop? Or fly around the thing. I saw a Phantom automatically flying over something in the way in a video. Can the H do that?

It seems like the picture quality is not up to the price they sold the unit. So did the gimbal quality too. I can see the propellers at the beginning of your first video. Did you try their ultrasonic object avoidance function?

Did anyone test its ultrasonic avoidance system? What I can see online right now is tonnes of videos showing off Typhoon H+Vicon, which should be super expensive if it is available in the market some day.

YTH Ultrasound OA Range:

Here's the text of the YTH FAQ regarding US OA range:

"What is the effective range of the built-in front ultrasonic sonar sensor?
The effective range of the built-in front ultrasonic sensor is 5 feet (1.5 m) when flying in Smart Mode and Angle Mode. Typhoon H must be flown in Turtle Mode for the ultrasonic sonar sensor to work."

Details for RealSense OA module are not yet available on the YTH website (that I could find anyway...)

youtube is horrible for video anymore. Vimeo is a better option or host the file.

Thanks. I went on the site and found the PDF manual too. 10% of the avoidance distance but a 360 moving camera. Decisions decisions.
