help save my first lipo

i bought my first lipo today. it is a kokam 1500mah 7.4 volt.
how can i keep it from going below minimum voltage and ruining the batt?
isn't there a device i can attach to the battery to shut it off before it goes too low on voltage?

i understand that if they go too low on voltage they will puff up and be toast.

help educate a lopo newbie.

What you need is a "Speed Control" with LVC "Low Voltage Cut Off". I don't know what's available for brushed motors but for brushless you can't beat the Castle Creations ESC's. The Phoenix 25's I have are programmable as to the voltage cut off you desire.

Go to and download the PDF manual for the Phoenix25 under the Documents button.
