Hobbyking Quanum Nova Pro (Cheerson CX Pro ?)
Looks like some sensible improvements like bigger battery, full APM unit so not soldering to the cut down flight controller required Oddly no change on the landing gear, they should have made it much tougher and a little taller The original struggled immensely with a 2 axis gimbal on board, let's hope this one has plenty of spare power and lift to cope with 2 and 3 axis gimbals |

I ordered one of these yesterday. I almost ordered a Nova before but decided to go another way at that time and to revisit it later. Well it is now later and that did an upgrade so I decided to pick one up. We will see how it goes. I have built many quads so fixing this will not be a problem. I will open it up and do a good inspection of connections and such before I fly it. I also picked up 2 different gimbals for it, one for GoPro and one for mobius as I have both.

I posted this info on the other thread for Nova's.
When I got the Pro a couple days ago I found one of the motors had the wrong threads on it and would not take the correct prop. I contacted Hobbyking and this is what happened. Quick update on my Nova Pro. Hobby King finally got back to me and gave me a couple of options. 1- wait for replacement motor --- 40 days before they have parts. 2- Send the whole thing back for refund. 3- Get $20 back. I took option 3 as I do not want to wait, I do not want to send it back and I have already ordered new motors which only cost $17each anyway. I ordered the Multistar Elite 2312 980kv motors as the stock motors look just like them. So I have a motor test stand and I'm going to put the stock motor on it and get all the power info from it and then put one of the new motors on and see how close they are. I'm hoping they are the same and then I will have spare motors. If they are different .....oh well no spares then. I will take more pictures of the inside when I get back at it. I'm going to clean up the solder joints on the ESC's and anything else I find in there I do not like. I do have a question. Is there any improvements to the stock Quanum radio I should look into doing or is it a fine radio as is? I have a X9R Pro and a Taranis also but if they radio is fine I will just stick with it. I do not really plan on doing large out of sight flights. |

I just ordered one too.I've got a PNF coming and I'll stick an Frsky RX in it of some flavour. The spec is so close to my current slightly modified PNF Nova that it's scary.
Being a PNF I'll be opening it up for a nose around as soon as I get my hands on it. Hey Dogdude.Have you seen what became of your CX-20 thread ? |

Here are some pics I posted in the other thread. I'm think I should stay here but there is not a lot of info here yet as no body has them yet. The other thread is nice but huge and a lot of info may not apply to the new pro.

Pictures of new Nova Pro for view pleasure
Some of you may know by my other posts I received my Quanum Nova Pro (QNP) on Tuesday. Shipping from HK international warehouse only took 5 days from the day it was ordered. Crazy fast but it was also expensive shipping. Anyway after getting it I found the right rear motor had the wrong threads, they had installed 3 CCW motors and only 1 CW motor. So I could not install the props to test it. I contacted HK and we have come to a solution which for now is me getting new motors (Multistar Elite 2312 980kv) on my dime. They are refunding me $20 as the replacement motors are at least 4 weeks out. Did not want to ship the quad back for replacement. The motors on the QNP look like they may be Multistar Elite 2312 980kv motors and when my replacements come I will put them on the test stand and compare them. Any way here are some pics I have posted and I will keep this post updated as I progress.

Thanks.
As was spotted on the CX-20 thread it looks very much like there's a PM built in to the PDB.Also looks like an APM 2.x (7 probably ) like the HK Pilot ones.So volts and current available for telemetry and logs. It does look like they've been reading the big thread.I'm looking forward to ripping mine apart when it arrives. |

Ok here is a little info on the stock motors and props. I pulled the incorrect motor and put it on the test stand.
Plush 25a ESC 3s 2200 mAh 40c battery (How many amps can I pull from this battery?) Max amps pulled 13.25 Max watts pulled 159.3 Grams of thrust 690 once it settled down I was at 12.80 A 152 Watts 670 grams Thrust level seems low and I think my test stand may be the issue there as it really felt like it had a ton of thrust. I do not have a way to calibrate the test stand right now. I guess I need some weights to hang from it and see what it says. Any way I will test the other motor tomorrow and see if I get the same results. |

Oh yes, it's frikin nuts
Show a few people how to modify a quad and look what happens In fairness I suppose it was figuring that it was an APM and then going on to tap into it for telemetry that made it a whole different machine, even right now I think it's an ace machine all it requires is a little more lift capacity to allow for 3 axis gimbals |
