Question

Which battery charger ?

I just bought a Charger 80W recently introduced to the market who also make q-Copters (I do not want to mention the name, otherwise my letter would be deleted !)
Very disapointed with it, It neither Balance charge, discharge, charge or fast charge, it charges though.
There are so many chargers floating around, I want to know if all charges in the lower price range say below 30 are the same and one should not expect accuracy from these charges.
I have started flying model aeroplanes, I do not think I will be using more than 4S battery.
I would very much like to have your advice. Thanks

What capacity 4s lipo and how many of them do you anticipate charging at a time? You would need: Capacity(Ah) x 16.8 x number-of-lipos-in-parallel-charge x (2 or 3 depending on which C rate you plan to charge at - you should be happy with 2) = Watts requirement of charger.

The Turnigy Reaktor is a good charger. Watt rating depends on above calculation.

I've found I like parallel charging more than one-at-a-time. But if that is still your choice, then all you need is a 113.4 watt charger for a 3C rate of charge.

Low cost entry level: Imax B6 + laptop charger style power brick

Midrange: Turnigy Reaktor 300 + modified server PSU

High end: PL6 + modified server PSU pair

Specific makes and models as well as links to the equipment are mentioned here on RCG all the time. Your post will not be deleted as long as you are reporting facts.

May I suggest you read this:

There is a wealth of information there on LiPo batteries and charging.

30 is about $43USD. For about that the HobbyKing Accucell 6 is a reasonable charger.
In the future anytime you mention a battery please include the cell count and the mAh.

Also it would help if your country is listed in your header. That makes it easier for folks to recommend sources. I am guessing your in the UK.

This one would be adequate. You will need the power supply with it.

Thank you very much for your help. But no body has answered my basic question. How accsurate are these above chargers. I just bought D800, 80Watt, 7A which is hopless, does not balance any cell at all. I just want a accurate charger which would do the job properly. If in the final after balance charging, there is a difference of .01 or so I can manage it but not after balancing 4.15V; 4.10V; 4.17V.

By the way I am in UK.

I have a couple of cheapies and they're a lot more accurate than the numbers you give. In fact I've never seen any charger that bad, if it's actually finished balancing. Oh and if what you're doing the measuring with is reasonably accurate.

Hi Steve please share with me the charger which you have in your collection, which is most accurate among them. Thanks

beg,

This charger should satisfy your requirements. It a bit over your price but is in a UK store. It's 60W and is AC power so you will not need a power supply.

I have an 80W Accucel-6 that is as good as anything (balance within 0.02V, usually 0.01V). And that's not just relying on the charger's display but measured with an external DMM.

But you may not find one identical these days, it's an earlier version than https://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...arehouse_.html (no HV support).
