Wings
Wings covering and main landing gear hatch done
Each wing weighs 700 grams, I think it's pretty good considering its internal structure is made of plywood. The fun (and irritating) thing is that after you spend time and efforts to keep the weight as low as possible, when you install the EDFs and LiPos the weight just doubles |

Cowlings
Depron cowlings done but not finished, they still need sanding, priming, ecc...
...about the block of wood on top of the two dummy engines, it's because they come out a little oval, so that's just to get them in the right shape. Next time insert 2 or 3 rings inside to keep them round! |

You need a loooooot of shackle to make wings pretty good. And sanding, sanding, sanding to make them lighter after that.

3D print
I have a question for the 3D printer owners:
Since building airplanes this big is taking me forever, I wanted to know if it is possible and what are the pros and cons of printing it out entirely with a 3D printer. I know some of you has a 3d printer but I've never seen anyone printing a big rc plane, only little planes and parts like flaps mechanism. Thanks for all your answers! |

I think it is unreal. All materials using in 3D printers are heavy

Engine mounted
Engine mounted, I already had the depron cut for the pylon but it turned out it was wrong, so I'll need to cut them from scratch

Very strong setup. Did you have any issues with warping during the drying process? Or perhaps, did you use a jig you left the wing in while drying (or did you counter possible warping by covering both sides at a time)? Looks great whatever you did.
I have covered bare foam with Japanese tissue, then paint. It was a very nice process. It did not sand as well as fiberglass but covered open cell foam nicer and prepped for paint just as well. I have been tempted to use light weight brown paper (package paper) and bought a roll to experiment with. Did your paper have a shiny side to it or was it all bare paper? |
