Not everyone flew.
The gusty cross wind made for some interesting take-offs and landings.

NO FLYING WEDNESDAY, November 13th

Hi,
To all TARMAC members. Due to the Severe weather warning facing our Region this coming Wednesday, and the forecast winds of 20 to 60KPH, the Committee has agreed that ALL FLYING OPERATIONS WILL BE SUSPENDED DUE TO THE SEVERE FIRE RISK. We do not want to put our members, neighbours and the general community at risk.

Hopefully those who enjoy our morning get togethers for coffee and a chat will still turn up.
I would suggest whoever is scheduled for cooking lunch to NOT do so as numbers may well be down.

I appreciated your co-operation in this matter and it is something that we have not taken lightly.

Best regards,

Doug Woodcock (VP)

Hi,
With the ongoing fire emergency effecting the Darling Downs, and the expectation that this will continue for sometime to come, the TARMAC Committee feels that along with a ‘no fly period’ this would have an adverse impact on our incoming Christmas function.

As such, TARMAC wishes to advise that the TARMAC Christmas Function has been postponed to Sunday, December 1st.

TARMAC’s General Meeting has now been rescheduled to the following Sunday December 8th at the same time on 10am.

Thanks in advance of your understanding and support.

Cheers,

Doug

Fire ban update

Hi All TARMAC Members,

I am pleased to inform you that the State of Fire Emergency has been lifted, however a Local Fire Ban continues to be in place for Toowoomba and Southern Downs.

https://www.ruralfire.qld.gov.au/Bus...FireBanSWR.pdf

The TARMAC Committee has discussed and reappraised our management of the Fire Risk for flying LIPO and Internal Combustion Radio Controlled Model Aircraft at our Hodgson Vale flying field.

Previously the TARMAC Committee put a flying ban in place as we were under a QFES State of Fire Emergency.

Flying of LIPO and Internal Combustion Radio Controlled Model Aircraft may now recommence from Monday 25/11/2019 on a restricted basis.

The restrictions are as follows:
1. No flying in winds above 30 km/hr
2. No flying if conditions are deemed unsafe by the TARMAC Committee Members present
3. Flying only when two or more club members are present at the field
4. If an aircraft does crash then at least two persons are to retrieve the aircraft with one person carrying a fire extinguisher ready to take immediate action in case of fire. (Fire Extinguishers are available in the Pit area)
5. No flying of Fuel Turbine Jet aircraft or Rockets until further notice

Thank you on behalf of the TARMAC Committee for your patience and support during the State of Fire Emergency Period.

Let us hope for rain so that the current Local Fire Ban is lifted and so that the many hero fire fighters can get the bush fires under control.

The weather forecast over next few days is for winds below 30 km/hr with a possible thunderstorm on Wednesday. Looking forward to seeing you all back at the field flying once again.

Best Regards and stay safe

It's good to be back flying; but still, a few inches of rain wouldn't hurt.
