Hybrid Contest....Mixed Launch Thermal Duration

All,

June 11th and 12th

We are hosting a Mixed Launch Thermal Duration Contest in the ESL (Eastern Soaring League).

The contest is in Newark Delaware on a huge mowed field. Look at www.skss.org for Club information.....

Here is the Contest Information...

http://www.flyesl.com/Contest.aspx?contestid=226

The contest is a normal Thermal Duration contest that will also allow Electric Sailplanes to enter and compete. Sat and Sun are scored as separate contests.

See the contest listing for the rules. The key point is that you need an F5J or ALES altitude limiter so that you can set the launch height.

The contest is a lot of fun...it is a great tune up for Polecat (the following weekend).

Even though this is not a true "Electric Event", it is Soaring...and you are very welcome to attend.

Hope to see you there!!!

Mixed format this year! Winches and E-launch unite!

Contest will be held Saturday and Sunday with Friday being a fun-fly day. Anything soaring or electric will be permitted Friday. Pilots meeting on Saturday starts at 8am. Camping is available at the field.

Scoring is seeded man-on-man with four to five in a group. Expert and Sportmans will fly rounds together depending on attendance.

E-Launch Notes:

1. Pilots will stand at the winch line and take a max effort launch towards the turnaround. No altitude limiter will be required, but a normal winch launch height is expected to be flown. CD reserves the right to limit motor time or DQ an excessive launch.
2. Flying E-launch for one round or all day will remove your scores from the ESL end of year awards.
3. A motor restart is considered an off field landing and will zero your round. (This note may be modified until consensus is reached. Expect a DQ for restart)

Also, please be aware the landing zone is going to be narrow. From tree to tree is about 600ft. The total field length is about 2200ft.

Lunch:
Will be provided Saturday for 5$, please pack for Sunday.

Directions:

Lat/Long:
+40 26' 39.30", -79 33' 29.01"

From Rt.66 North turn right on story road/ slickvillie road continue east past signs for the steel city racetrack. About .3 mile past the racetrack entrance make a right on Aviation Way (a small red street sign on a gravel road).
Continue up gravel road for about 300 yard. Please, DO NOT turn at the airport sign (this is a private driveway)...Continue past and turn right south of the runway. There will be signs and cones to follow. Do Not Drive across the runway.
