Battling Boxcar for 50+ build off
Came across this cute little thing lurking on my old hard drive, and although I fly mostly gliders these days, I got the urge to build something with wheels.
http://www.outerzone.co.uk/plan_details.asp?ID=1408 So far the plan has been printed out, a vintage glider plan and an own design pushed into the corner and a new 11 blade fitted to the knife. She was printed out about 2 1/2 times the original size, giving a span around 1.4m. When finished the wing will be stretched to 1.5m for building convenience. Its a delightfully simple all sheet design, but I will almost definitely do a built up rear fuselage with sheeting limited to the wing/nose section. Tail surfaces will be built up instead of sheet, and the wing will get ribs and spars and things as usual, It should be a pleasant straightforward 2 channel electric project, and one which I think will be fun to toodle around with. As soon as I can get access to the PC, I'll post a thumbnail or two. Al |

Baby Steps
Nothing exciting to photograph yet, but the fuselage side view is trimmed and taped together, the wing seat drawn in, and the wing incidences checked.
Al's Hobbies (no relation) has all my goodies ready, and a friend will pick them up on the weekend - so it should all arrive in the next week or so. I'm a little undecided at the moment whether to go with an open structure, or a fully sheeted fuselage. The difference in weight may not be that big, but I'll weigh the wood when it arrives and decide then. Photos once some thing has actually been built Al |

Yip, I have no idea how big rubber jobs can be, but this one will be electric rc. It will have a mostly open structure, except for the front. The build is progressing slowly, as I'm still at the stage where I'm trying to make sure that I don't leave problems to sort out at the end (although there inevitably will be something).
in the meantime the covering, wood, glue etc to finish the build is on its way Al |

One side is all glued together, and ready to have the other side built over it. Once they are off the board, there will be a couple of verticals added to align the formers and firewall, and also doublers below the wing and in front of the side windows.
